@allshipscreationschallenge | @gordonwalkr ↳ Prompt: Dean/Benny + Vampire
Give me a vampire and I’m good
Can we please talk about the fact that, in spn s8 Sam breaking up with his vet girlfriend was directly paralleled to Dean "breaking up" with Benny? Bc i think of that alot
The one thing I hate about Deanx(someone besides Castiel) is how they always make Dean or Cas so needy for each other. If it's DeanxBenny, there has to be something wrong, and Dean always ends up with Castiel. Why can't it be, when Deanx(someone besides Castiel) it's stays that way! Seriously, I love destiel, it's great, but why do all the good fics up as destiel when the original is just as good?
Topetine: my askbox has eaten your original ask! So this is for you anyway:-)
There are always whispers of the world, even in purgatory. Monsters carry news below with them, even if the tumult of earth, heaven and hell leave them largely untouched.
Benny had heard Dean Winchester's name before he ever laid eyes on him. From vampires and werewolves and witches, as both a curse and a blessing. It died down for a while after he chose to stay in purgatory, like everything was just waiting.
There seems to be more fighting in heaven. Then a skinwalker he runs across talks about being stabbed with the blade of Cain himself, held in the hand of a Winchester.
All of a sudden the voices all over purgatory have Dean's name on their lips and maws again. It makes Benny's fangs itch in his gums. Because this time it has an air of anticipation about it, a gathering volume like they know something he doesn't.
The blade means the mark. The old man had told him a story once on a blood slippery deck in the Mediterranean. A story about the very first murder, the very first murderer, ancestor of every bloody scene in history.
Benny has perfect recall of the look in Dean's eyes before his hurtle back down. They were soft and regretful and human. Grateful. If Benny was still capable of having nightmares they would surely include those eyes glazing over, demon black.
So when the King of Hell himself appears in Purgatory and tells him to get his ass back upstairs, he does. Crowley is afraid.
Dean and Benny don't owe anything to each other, but Benny loves him and he'll help save him if he can.
An Anon asked for Dean/Benny at the zoo:-)
How does this happen? Was meant to be much shorter but alas...
Dean didn't exactly have a hallmark card childhood. He rarely talked about it, but when he did there was always something slightly off about it, like he would relate a funny story about how he once had to feed himself and Sam for a week on $10.
It makes Charlie want to cry into her cereal. Hell has closed its gates, but they're still picking off stragglers and probably will be until they're grey. So she tries to make things better for Dean, because she loves him.
And she has an ally: Benny.
Benny is Dean's reward for service to God, she thinks. He appeared outside the bunker one day after the gates closed. Confused, happy and human. Dean didn't let him out of his sight for a week, scared that he might be gone as quickly as he arrived.
They don't talk about it, not really, but she likes to think of them as Dean's backup team. Castiel is an honourary and mainly absent member she's still pretty scared of.
He won't be attending Charlie's newest and greatest plan for Dean: Operation Day Out At The Zoo (like normal people).
The best way of getting Dean to do anything is to pretend that she's the one who wants to go. He won't take time off for himself but if Charlie or Benny want to go somewhere or try something he caves almost instantly.
Sam finds all of it very, very funny.
So far they've gone to the movies, bowling and six flags. She has a photo of Benny and Dean on one of the rollercoasters that makes her smile every time she looks at it. Benny won her a stuffed animal and they ate so much food on a stick that she never wants to see another corn dog again.
It's obvious when they're together that they really want each other. They're so flirty and happy together. Benny gets away with calling Dean sugar, for crying out loud. And Dean blushes.
So she's wheedled him into going to the zoo with her. She wants to see the monkeys and the lions. Benny's humming in the kitchen packing a lunch while Dean brings Baby up from the garage.
Sam is coming too. He looks much younger these days, smiles more.
"Baby's outside guys, let's get going before the place gets too busy."
Dean looks excited. Charlie knows that he loves having them all together - he's a family man at heart. Nothing makes Dean happier than seeing all the people he loves in one room when it isn't planning for the next apocalypse.
So they all pile into the impala. Sam and Dean up front, her and Benny in the back. The zoo's about an hour away and they crank up the tapes. Dean sings along as he drives and they all join in. Benny has a gorgeous singing voice, she's jealous of it.
When they arrive they do the full tourist thing- maps, programmes.
"I want to see the monkeys first." Dean says, holding out his arm to her.
"Good choice." She links her arm in his and lets herself cuddle into him a little.
So they make for the monkey house, enjoying the sunshine and the stroll. The zoo is quiet and the day is warm.
They have a huge monkey enclosure and she could watch them all day. Playing, hopping from branch to branch. Dean is pressed as close as he can to the fence. Benny next to him.
She stands a back a bit with Sam and they exchange a look. Sam knows what's up.
"I've never seen him like this with anyone before." He says quietly.
"Never?"
"No. Maybe a little with Lisa, but he never lets anyone take care of him. I mean, he never did before."
"Too busy taking care of everyone else. Literally, like saving the world stuff. You too."
She looks back at Dean and Benny, Benny's hand now resting on the small of Dean's back.
"I just want to smoosh them together and say 'now kiss'."
Sam laughs, his real honking belly laugh.
"You should. You've got him wrapped around your finger."
"He would be an awesome dad." She finds herself saying, because he would. "They could adopt, it would be so cute."
Sam nods, still smiling.
"Hey you guys," She shouts," There's still the chimps!"
Benny is intrigued by the chimps, and he grabs Dean's hand to lead the way. She can't lie, there's internal screaming.
It's how the day goes. Like Benny's decided to just go for it, to touch Dean as much as he wants and when Dean accepts it, shows he likes it, he goes further.
They stop for their picnic lunch on the grass. Cold fried chicken, dinner rolls with butter and coleslaw. Dean and Benny lean into each other as they eat, Dean complimenting Benny's cooking until Benny's the one who blushes.
Charlie and Sam don't comment on it, Charlie knows that Sam is probably going to have a talk with Benny about not hurting Dean eventually. Charlie isn't- she knows that Benny would rather go back to purgatory as a vampire than hurt Dean.
They see every exhibit, laugh at the seals and enjoy the look on Dean's face when he sees the wolves, who are his favourite.
Sam buys her a pencil case with a koala on it and she buys herself a t shirt with the zoo logo. On the way home she falls asleep, head on Benny's shoulder. Somehow he still manages to smell like the sea.
Benny makes dinner and they eat together at the table. It's easily the happiest and most secure she's been since her parents died. This little found family of theirs under the bunker's soft lamplight.
She isn't meant to see the kiss, but she does. Going back out to get her forgotten tablet she sees Dean and Benny in the kitchen. Washing dishes together, or meant to be. Benny's soapy hands are on Dean's shoulders and they're exchanging the sweetest kiss.
The tablet can wait, she thinks.
UGHHHH OP THIS WAS NOTHING YOU WANTED I AM GUESSING I AM DEAN/BENNY TRASH
