I made this thinking about how, for me, Darius knows Ben too well.

After the monorail incident, Ben came up with this whole Island boy persona.Trying to be brave, trying to look in control.

But it doesn't matter how hard he tried to look tough, Darius knew he was not okay, he knew Ben was hurt. And yeah, he blamed himself for this.

When it comes to Darius, there is no braveness in the world Ben could hide behind. Darius knows what trauma looks like, it is unconsciously but he knows. He has been dealing with it since his Dad's loss.

That's why when they finally reunited, something just clicked. Darius understood and recognized in Ben his own emotional problems. For me that explains why Ben can't hide how he feels from him.

I was bored so I rewatched my benrius edit FOR THE 100TH TIME and made these gifs of Ben staring at Darius in different "melancholic" ways. Analyze it the way you prefer...

Bc for me personally, being able to see all their moments in canon again and again is so cool! I'm just thankful and happy for it! Their chemistry onscreen is insane.

Well, while I was doing a Benrius edit and rewatching the "I love you bud" scene to edit it, this came to my mind:

Can we talk about how in that scene Ben kinda of hesitates before saying the line? Everybody knows that but LET'S TALK ABOUT IT.

For sure those words had a special significance to him.

I feel like if he was saying it to the whole camp fam he would be chill. They know what he means by it.

But saying it to Darius Bowman? For me the hesitation is bc his words obviously carried the significance of his feelings. And his feelings for Darius... Can be quite special?

They're special bc of the reasons we already know. Bc of the way they shared memories, moments, interactions and looks at each other I know u all remember about. Special bc of the way they connect with each other's emotions. Oh, and they even share the most traumatic moment possible together (the monorail scene).

Besides all that, another interpretation I like is that Ben just figured out he loves Darius on those microseconds of that scene. So those moments of hesitation would be the moments it all finally clicked for him.
