Mary (School for Vampires): My and @ben-the-hyena's creation of Mary started with Ben's idea of Count Frakula having had a wife named Mary based on him referencing having known a woman named Mary after he was offered to drink some Bloody Mary in his episode.
Mary I of England "Bloody Mary": Considering the already meantioned association with the term "Bloody Mary", I think it's understandable why I designed Mary after this historical figure, which also fits the School for Vampires show as we already have examples of characters being references to historical figures with sinister contexts attached to them, such as Bathory.
Beatrice Horseman (BoJack Horseman): Ben suggested her as a character similar to Mary in terms of her family situation, which I agree with: both Beatrice and Mary are women who got trapped in unhappy marriages with bad husbands, becoming passive-aggressive, neglectful, cynical, bitter, jaded people who drink to cope with their misery, which led to them being horrible mothers to theirs sons who, because of that, end up being very messed up, egotistical and manipulative men. Though, personally, I imagine that Mary has a bit more self-awareness and doesn't think of herself as a “great mom" like Beatrice. I think while both have resentment towards their sons as the boys felt like another chain holding them down in this prison of a marriage, I don't see Mary having the entitlement of trying to gaslight her son into respecting her and believing he's lucky to have her as his mother.
Miriam Pataki (Hey Arnold!): I think Miriam is a good reference for Mary's general state: an aloof wife and neglectful parent who just mopes and sleeps around the house all day, mostly indifferent to everything around her because of her depression and alcoholism.
Squidward Tentacles (SpongeBob Squarepants): Both me and Ben agreed Mary has a personality a lot similar to Squidward: an intelligent but a very grumpy, sassy, introverted, sarcastic, snobby, miserable, apathetic, and pessimistic person who views everything in a negative light, hates their life routine and spends more time sleeping or engaging in small personal distractions, like consuming something to their taste, the only difference being that Squidward, despite all that, still has ambitions that he actively persuits, even if he's not always good at it or people don't see appeal in his performance, while Mary is head-deep in depression and doesn't really have drive for anything.
Bonnie Swanson (Modern Family Guy): Like Bonnie in later seasons of the series, Mary is resentful and apathetic towards her husband, finding the idea of him dying a pleasant one, but instead of being tired of looking over a disabled spouse, she doesn't care about her husband dying because he forced vampirism, marriage and childbirth on her.
