In late spring Berberis 'Georgei’ (barberry) is covered with red-stalked racemes of small yellow flowers which are followed in autumn by this spectacular display of red berries. This spreading, deciduous shrub produces arching branches and grows best in most well drained soils in full sun or partial shade.

This is a garden escapee, some kind of shrub in the genus Berberis/Mahonia (probably Japonica?). The new leaves look good enough to eat (don't though!)
