In a Different Light

The head cold persists, and so I knew I would take another easy walk through the neighborhood today rather than seek out something new and interesting.  Sitting on the couch I couldn't get motivated - "I'm already sick of walking around the South End, I feel like I'm just doing the same thing" - so I decided the only other thing that could motivate me right now is the new donut shop, Blackbird Donuts.  

The funny thing is, once i was out and about I started to see my same old neighborhood in different ways.  The sun was just starting to set and seemed to settle on familiar sights with a golden, almost warm hue.  The Chinese neighborhood garden, though mostly dormant and already covered in snow, had new life to it.  And while I normally drive past it in a hurry to hop on the pike, today I walked by slowing, taking in the little (and sometimes weird) details (apparently many plots use protein powder jugs for something? I'm going to ask coming spring/summer).

I also got a donut, and it was awesome :-)
