THE BERLIN WALL AND GETTING STUCK IN BERLIN....
A few weeks ago I went to Berlin for the weekend expecting to take in the sights and enjoy the infamous nightlife. I had a great time at the Berlin Wall and the night life was indeed as infamous and I’d heard. The day I was supposed to return to London, I went online to check in for my evening flight and was surprised that my flight had been moved to an airport in Hamburg, Germany. Initially, I thought I had booked the flight wrong, but when I called the airline I was informed that Berlin airports were on strike and my only chance of getting back to London that day would be to take a bus to Hamburg (4 hrs away!) and catch a flight from there. My friend had an important meeting at working the next day so she wanted to try to take the bus to Hamburg and leave that night. The strike in Berlin was scheduled to last for two days and she needed to get home as soon as possible. Needless to say, by the time we figured out the bus schedule, we had missed the bus that would get in Hamburg in time to make the flight. Soooo, we ended up having to stay in Berlin an extra night. It was frustrating and aggravating at first but honestly, the night that we got stuck there ended up being the best night of the trip. Just goes to show you that sometimes the best moments in life come from unexpected changes of plans!
