The Burn in His Cheeks

Indulging in things like romantic love was a choice only fools made. Chasing after someone in hopes that your feelings would be reciprocated was nothing more than a useless frivolity. Felix found that romance was a waste of time. His time was better spent training or on the battlefield, and so that's how he spent his time. Tirelessly hacking away at training dummies and defeating anyone in his path, he hoped it would help the burn in his cheeks die down, but as he watched Bernadetta scuttle around the training grounds in hopes that no one would notice her, he realized that he couldn't avoid the feeling until he avoided her.

If anyone who knows me knows that I'm absolute felibern trash 🏃🏽‍♀️💨 I fricking love these two dummies. This can, of course, be substituted with any characters, but like I really like Felix x Bernadetta so I had to hit y'all with a felibern prompt.

On another note, uh 👉🏽👈🏽 credits would be appreciated if you used this writing prompt.

As I noted in my last post on the sibject, one of the more hilarious stand outs from my attempt at @msbluebell‘s Double Time Travel AU is Felix.

Because while it’s neat to write Ingrid as young and in love with Glenn, and develop Glenn as a person, and have Annette keeping Gustave around...Felix’s situation is just friggin’ wild to me because as I noted, he’s the new Ingrid.

Because since he’s not the heir, everyone over hither and yon is trying to get Rodrigue to marry Felix into their houses for his major crest. Rodrigue just forwards the letters, having made a public stance of “I’m not making my kid marry anyone until he’s at least an uncle”, claiming some bs about how Felix has always wanted to be the cool uncle and thus deserves to be around for a bit after Glenn’s first kid is born. And Felix gets the letters, skims them, and sets them on fire.

So Felix is like...super prickly about it. So he and Sylvain have bonded a little more because Felix feels kinda used for his crest, even if he’s not a weird flirt like Sylvain is about it. Which actually hurts Felix, since he’s seen as “noble and mysterious” instead and he has NO clue how he did that, he’s been trying to cultivate an image of an ass no one would want to marry...which fails because his obvious care for Dimitri, Glenn, and all his other friends actually ruins that. To say nothing of when he ends up being the big brother figure to Lysithea, Cyril, and Flayn entirely by accident on his part. Hard to be intimidating when you have three ducklings about.

Plus his relations with the other students are different because Dimitri, being a time traveler, did not have his “kinda snapped suppressing a rebellion” moment. So Felix considers himself the first line of defense if anyone’s close to setting off Glenn’s PTSD (Ingrid, I know you love him and are gonna marry him, but he’s my brother, aka this is my job) and he just assumes Dimitri has the same issue and is hiding it better (since Dimitri does still have nightmares like crazy and is stressed from trying to fix things with Byleth and stop a war and yadda yadda). He also has Dedue as his backup bestie after Sylvain, since he doesn’t see Dedue as someone just working for a boar. They bonded over glaring at anyone who ever spooked Dedue’s little sister and trying to keep Dimitri out of trouble. Dedue admits that while he has the scarier face, Felix has managed the more intimidating glare and he must work to match it.

Finally, due to his prickliness around people bringing up relationships and such, Felix has no idea on this earth what to do when he starts to get a crush on Bernadetta because she disarmed him when he was trying to return her bag. Like...no idea. At all. So instead of talking to someone sensible about it...he goes to the ducklings to plan out how to handle this. Because he is hopeless like everyone else in this shenanigan-filled AU.

Felix and Bernadetta is the best support so far. It’s really cute, 10/10 would recommend. Sylvain and Dorothea have a nice one too.
