From the corner of her eye she could see the demon’s tail flick in annoyance.  “I’m not a cat,” it said, it’s voice soft and melodic.  “I’m a witch who just happened to make a bad deal.  And my name’s Betty, not ‘Cat’.”

“Demon cat, then.”

“Too much saffron,” the cat warned in a sing-song voice.

I've been researching old Hollywood queer women and I think this would work really well as a beronica au?? Betty, forced into this life by her mom as a teenager, feels like she doesn't have any control of her own life between the studio having her change her name (super common at the time) and her mom pressuring her to remain the perfect star. When all of a sudden, Veronica, the mysterious and sexy newcomer (maybe European instead of New York) gets cast in the same movie as her. Anyway, let me know if this sounds cool at all

OKAY SO:

Betty and Veronica were childhood friends and they grew up next door to each other and one day, Ronnie’s dad was exposed for alleged embezzlement so the police come to her house and drag him away. This leaves Hermione to bear all the expenses so she throws herself into odd jobs and as a result, she’s never home. Ronnie spends 99% of her time at Betty’s house (much to the displeasure of the Coopers).

Fast-forward to when they’re in their twenties, Betty and Ronnie have a MASSIVE fight that leads to Ronnie leaving and Betty’s super guilty and upset. Ronnie is basically wasted outside of some club and that’s when she gets struck by lightning. She ends up getting rushed to the hospital and transferred to New York to be placed under observation.

Betty is suuuuuuper guilty bc the last thing she ever said to Ronnie was some really angsty and mean shit so she tries to cope with it by taking up a job as a waitress at the Chock’lit Shoppe and getting into a relationship w/ J*ghead to distract herself. She’s also going to school for journalism bc her mom is one and wanted to use that profession for good (unlike her mom using it to expose people and be bitter constantly).

9 months later, she gets a call from the hospital saying that Ronnie woke up and Betty is so excited! Hermione and Ronnie move back to Riverdale to be surrounded by old family and friends and so Ronnie can get back on her feet. This is when she first realizes she has superpowers and is a metahuman.

She works with Kevin and the rest of the Pussycats to help stop crime in Riverdale and solve the mystery of Jason Blossom’s murder. Cheryl Blossom the Lena Luthor of her family, trying to do some good and distance herself from the terrible things that her parents have done/are continuing to do. At first, Ronnie (‘The Flash’) and Cheryl get off to a rocky start, but they warm up to each other soon and she’s quickly accepted into the team to help provide insight on what the Blossom’s have done. (Also, in this universe Cheryl is a whistleblower that exposes people through the use of the Internet, pre-Inhuman Daisy Johnson style).

Betty, fascinated with what The Flash does, takes up blog writing to document all the heroic saves. This catches the attention of various people, more specifically, the Blossom parents. Ronnie approaches Betty as the Flash behind the Chock’lit Shoppe and warns Betty about getting in too deep with crime, but Betty is too smitten to listen AND determined to be better than her mother. (The Flash has flirted with Betty before, so there is some ~tension~ there.)

Meanwhile, Ronnie and Betty’s friendship is getting strained because Ronnie’s growing increasingly distance again and Ronnie is trying to persuade Betty to stop writing her blog before she gets herself hurt, but they both quickly accept the new profession and essentially move on with their lives. Ronnie ends up telling Betty she’s the Flash when Jug gets caught in the crossfire of the feud between the Blossoms and Team Flash. Josie becomes Kid Flash after Blossoms kidnap her as payback (they try a new weapon to use on Ronnie but Josie jumps in the middle of them). Valerie discovers that she can vibe after she discovers she was born with a meta-gene that was activated by another meta-human attack.

I COULD GO ON FOREVER but I’ll leave it with this: Archie Andrews is another Vibe from Earth-46 sent to hunt down Ronnie for violating interdimensional time-travel laws, but gets with Valerie! (#Archerie). Melody is like Caitlin, but actually self-less and useful to the team. Reggie is sort of like an anti-hero/vigilante that does what he pleases, but ends up joining the Flash Team and befriending Archie. Kevin is Pied Piper, except he was never a Rogue and was friends with Josie, Valerie, and Melody before the Particle Accelerator explosion.
