whats your opinion on sguar/artie now? do you think they'll be more? what about sguar/rory and quinn/joe?
I don't think Artie and Sugar will be any more. They don't seem to mesh at all. It reminds me far too much of Artie's crush on Brittany (back when she was likeable), but it's worse because Sugar discounts his feelings because she finds what she believes to be a bigger charity case. Artie still hasn't corrected her on her ableism or the vapidness that came with it, and that's very troubling.
I'm afraid now that if they ever were actually together, it would be worse than I originally feared; Sugar would constantly say rude, irritating things, and Artie would never open his mouth. It would bubble up inside of him, and when he's feeling particularly weak or has had an awful day, or something, anything, sets him off, he'll end up saying something he regrets because he's been holding everything in. That's Bartie's relationship, and I don't want it.
I understand that Sugar is more self-aware than Brittany, that being with a guy like Artie may help her to become more intuitive of other people's feelings as well as to educate her. It's a nice theory, but in application, it would fall flat. How Artie treats the flaws that would hinder a relationship between the two of them, would only cause deeper problems. He needs to call her out and educate her.
Of course the constant need to educate Sugar while she's being completely insensitive to what he's living with is, in itself, is a problem because it would be very nice for Artie to have someone he could rant with about ableism who at least understands, not have to constantly educate about ableism, but educating Sugar would at least be better than brushing off the remarks and burying the hurt they cause.
Suar/Rory I really don't care about. I doubt it'll last because of Rory's big, fat, green lie, but if it does, I don't think I'll care that much unless they get annoying or rub it in Artie's face. Then that'll just be cruel and my remaining respect for Sugar will probably be fleeting. I actually do love Sugar's character and think she's very sweet, but I don't see her forgiving Rory very easily for deceiving her.
Oh, Quinn/Joe... I just don't see them really meshing romantically. I think I could definitely ship a bromance between the two of them. I know this probably sounds weird, but I get a cousin-vibe between the two of them. I would say I'm not entirely opposed because it'd honestly be better than any of her previous relationships, other than Fuinn at its best moments, but the whole Joe-is-a-sophomore-and-a-stranger-to-us-and-Quinn-just-declared-independence is a bit of an issue. I prefer Joe/Rachel to be perfectly honest, and I think it would be kind of adorable if he just started becoming more and more open and forward-thinking after meeting Rachel's parents. I would love for him to serenade them every once in awhile.
