I've can't not ask for BeruPieck for the ship meme
Dude!!! I was just thinking about these two the other day! It’s been a while!😅 Well let’s get back into rare-pair city! :D
- Who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter
I kinda like the idea of both Bertolt and Pieck as werewolves (they’re both titan shifters; see the correlation there? lol) but for the sake of following the rules, we’ll go with Pieck as the werewolf and Bert as the hunter. Pieck’s not your run-of-the-mill scary, mean, bloodthirsty werewolf, but she does get hangry and moody in between shifts. Bertolt helps fend off other monsters and he helps her hunt for food.
- Who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman
Pieck is the mermaid, and Bertolt is the fisherman! She gets caught in his fishing net one day, so he helps free her from the tangled mess of rope, and soon a friendship is born.
She fetches him shiny pearls and pretty sea shells as little gifts.
- Who’s the witch and who’s the familiar
Pieck is the witch and Bert is the familiar! She enjoys practicing her craft with him😄
- Who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict
Bertolt is the barista and Pieck is the coffee addict. She’s always half asleep when she drags herself into the shop, but seeing Bertolt smile and brew her favorite mocha blend are the best part of her mornings.
She frequents the shop for open mic nights, too. Sometimes she’ll read poetry, other times she’ll sing a tune. It’s always in his honor😂
“This one’s for the cute barista in the back!”
- Who’s the professor and who’s the TA
Bertolt is the professor and Pieck is the TA. She makes the lunch runs and helps grade papers, while he stresses out over lesson plans and why his projector still keeps glitching out during powerpoint lecture :/
(Pieck fixes most of the techy issues!)
- Who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)
Bertolt is definitely the knight and Pieck is the princess.
He’s fought countless battles and faced off with the most daunting of hellish creatures, but it’s the princess that makes him sweat nervously and babble on like a hopeless fool 😂
- Who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent
Bert is the teacher and Pieck is the single parent. They meet at the school’s science fair :)
- Who’s the writer and who’s the editor
Pieck is the writer and Bert is the editor. Bert’s the best the agency had to offer, and Pieck doesn’t trust anyone else with her work. She develops a crush on him over time, although Bert’s oblivious to most of her flirting.
Thanks for the ask! :D (And I hope all is well!!!)
I legit forgot I had written this and found it while sorting through the Drive folders. It’s a kinda sequel to “Pointless angst” So if you liked that feel free to give this a read and let me know what you think!
“What do you think the chief wants?” Bertholdt yawned.
Pieck hummed deeply. “I’m not sure. Knowing Zeke it could be something interesting or… illegal.”
Sighing Bertholdt ran his fingers through his hair. “I’m too tired for illegal.”
“Didn’t they offer you some time off?” Pieck asked looking up at him.
Bertholdt laughed. “I’m afraid not. I can still walk.” He said gesturing to her crutches.
Pieck smirked and jabbed at his calf. “At least I can stay in my Titan for more than half an hour.”
Sighing in defeat Bertholdt nodded. “Okay, okay. You got me there,” He said with a weary smile. “By the way, have you seen Porco anywhere? I haven’t seen him in a couple days now.”
Pieck hummed. “No, I thought you being the vice chief would mean you knew.”
“You’d think that but I don’t really do that much,” Bertholdt said. “I just go to meetings and sit there while Zeke does all the talking.”
“Sounds thrilling.”
As they came to stop in front of Zeke’s door Bertholdt stretched his arms over his head. “Feel free to take my place.” He said before knocking on the door.
Zeke looked up from his desk as the door opened. “Ah, you’re here. How is married life?” He smiled.
Bertholdt blushed as Pieck dropped her crutches and threw herself down onto the waiting sofa. “Delightful,” She said smirking at Bertholdt. “So what have you got for us today?”
Zeke waited until both Bertholdt and Pieck were sitting down before taking off his glasses. “We’ve been given a… different type of mission today. Much of the Marley and Eldian reserves have been sent to deal with skirmishes with the Middle East Union, including Porco. This means we’re understaffed here… so there is no one to look after the little ones.”
Bertholdt’s eyes widened. “You want us to look after the kids?”
“Yes,” Zeke nodded. “Normally I’d send Colt to keep an eye on him but our… gracious leaders have left a mountain of work for us to do. So that leaves you two.”
“Right.” Bertholdt sighed as he stood up.
Zeke smiled at him. “Margath left a copy of their training schedule,” He said holding out a clipboard. “Now hurry up, you know what kids are like when they get bored.”
With their orders, Bertholdt and Pieck saluted their commander before leaving and closing the door behind them. Once alone Bertholdt leant against the wall and rubbed his eyes. Pieck looked over her shoulder and came to his side.
“I thought you’d be excited to see the kids again.” Pieck hummed.
Bertholdt sighed. “I am, I love them but whenever I look at them I just see… us, when we were their age.”
Pieck felt her heart ache at his words, she leant on one crutch and reached up to Bertholdt’s collar, she quickly pulled him down and sealed her lips against his. The kiss was brief but filled with care. “I know, but it means we have the chance to make a world that allows them to grow up as normal kids.” She said after releasing him.
“You’ve put a lot of thought into this, haven’t you?” Bertholdt asked with a weak smile.
“I put a lot of thought into everything,” Pieck said as she began walking down the corridor towards the courtyard. “Now let’s go, I’m sure Udo is looking forward to seeing you.”
Once they got outside Bertholdt took a deep breath of fresh air, he was about to walk into the courtyard when he felt something at his side. Looking down he saw Pieck leaning against him. “What are you doing?”
Pieck reached up and groaned quietly. “I’m stretching. It’s hard being cooped up on crutches all day so I’m going to use you as a leaning post.” She smirked as she bent over to touch her feet.
Bertholdt sighed. “First I carry you around wherever you want to go and now you use me as a leaning post.”
Pieck nodded. “Think of it as a promotion and besides,” She giggled. “I can make it worth your time.” Ignoring his immediate panic Pieck grabbed her crutches and took off ahead of Bertholdt into the courtyard where the kids were waiting.
Bertholdt shook his head and placed a hand over his heart. Feeling blood rush to his cheeks he took a moment to calm himself before following her. As the two of them got closer the four small figures rushed towards them.
A small girl with dark brown hair stopped in front of him, she puffed her chest out and saluted. “Vice chief!”
Looking down at her Bertholdt felt his heart sink in his chest. “I’ve told you when it’s just us you can call me by my name.” He said smiling weakly.
“You know he gets embarrassed by that title.” Smirked a small boy with short blonde hair.
Pieck leaned down slightly towards him. “You should’ve seen him when he had to carry me to the briefing room.”
Blood rushed to Bertholdt’s cheeks when Gabi and Falco looked up at him with devilish smiles. “Oh?” Gabi cooed. “I didn’t think the vice chief would be so forward.”
Before Bertholdt could stop her Pieck stepped forward as Udo and Zophia approached. “You have no idea.” She winked as she walked past them leaving Bertholdt with bright red cheeks.
Not wanting to be subjected to countless questions Bertholdt cleared his throat and clasped his hands together. “Just because you’re with us today doesn’t mean you can skip off training,” The four children saluted and stood to attention. “Gabi, begin with a basic warm up.”
“Yes, sir!” She beamed before leading the others to lap the courtyard. Once they were out of earshot Bertholdt turned around to see Pieck sitting on a nearby bench.
“Did you have to tell them that? I thought we were going to keep it a secret.” He sighed.
Pieck hummed. “I don’t remember agreeing to that. All I remember is you, pushing me against a wall and having your way with me.” She smirked.
Bertholdt blushed furiously and turned away from her. “Can you keep your voice down. I don’t want to kids to know.”
“They’re kids, not idiots.”
“Still… I don’t want there to be rumors.”
Standing up Pieck came to Bertholdt’s side. “I don’t care what people think.”
Bertholdt scoffed. “We can’t be as strong as you.”
“Is that a compliment?”
Bertholdt smiled and watched as the children ran parallel to the metal fence, the vigor with which they sprinted weighed heavy on Bertholdt’s shoulder. Every now and again he could picture himself running alongside Reiner, Porco, Marcel, Annie, and Pieck. Rubbing his eyes Bertholdt stood up and took a deep breath of fresh air as the children finished their last lap.
“W-what’s next?” Gabi huffed.
Looking over his shoulder Bertholdt leant down towards the kids. “You know what?” He said with a wide smile. “I don’t think it’s fair you’re forced to train when the festival is about to start. Why don’t we go out?”
“Captain Margarth wouldn’t be happy with that.” Udo said quietly.
“He doesn’t have to know. Think of it as… our secret.”
“Oh,” Pieck cooed as she approached. “Is our vice chief breaking the rules?”
Bertholdt smiled and nodded.”I think they deserve it. Wouldn’t you think?”
Humming, Pieck leant against Bertholdt’s side and cupped her chin. “I agree,” She said reaching out to tussle Zofia’s hair. “Hard work deserves a reward.”
Falco crossed his arms and looked over to Gabi. “We did get a day pass after the war. When else would we get to use it?”
Gabi smiled. “That sounds like a good idea. We could visit the stalls for the festival.” She said looking up at Bertholdt.
“I’ll grab my wallet,” Bertholdt chuckled. “I won’t be long.” He said walking inside.
Once he was gone Pieck found herself bombarded with questions from the children. Sitting down she did her best to answer them.
“So are you two really together?” Zofia asked.
Pieck hummed. “I guess you could say that.”
Smirking, Falco stepped forward. “What did the chief say?”
“He hasn’t had time to say anything about it,” She whispered. “But you know what he’s like. He’s probably thinking of a list of jokes to torment Bertholdt with.”
Udo looked up at Pieck with a confused look. “I always thought you liked Porco.”
Shaking her head Pieck smiled. “No, we were too close. It’s difficult to explain.” She shrugged.
Zofia blushed as she whispered into Pieck’s ear. “How did it happen?”
“I have to have my secrets,” Pieck said as she got to her feet. “Besides, I don’t think our vice would be happy to hear us talking about this.”
Looking behind them the kids frowned as Bertholdt jogged towards them, wallet in hand. “Sorry I took so long,” His smile disappeared when he saw the smirk on Pieck’s lips. “ Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked taking half a pace back.
“I was just talking to the little ones.”
“About?”
Before she could answer Udo stepped forward and offered an awkward smile. “What an amazing vice you are!”
Bertholdt sighed and rested a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sure you were,” He said glaring at his partner. “Come on. Let’s not waste the day.”
As the walked together Bertholdt looked down at Pieck and felt his heart begin to race. Only once the kid’s attention was on the various food stall around them did he lean down to talk to her. “Are you planning on telling everyone?”
“Are you embarrassed or something?”
Bertholdt shook his head. “No, not at all. It’s just I don’t want… people to get in our way.”
For a moment Pieck stopped and looked up at him. Her heart swelled as she looked into his smoky grey eyes. “What more can they do to us?” She smiled.
Before he could reply Bertholdt felt a hand tugging at his sleeve. Looking down he saw the children gathered around him. “We’ve got to go see the food stalls!” Gabi shouted as she pulled him down the street with Pieck and the others not far behind them.
It wasn’t long before the notes in Bertholdt’s wallet ran dry, each stall they visited seemed to get more and more expensive and eventually he had to turn down the requests for food and fair games. “I’m surprised,” Pieck giggled. “I didn’t know you had so much money.”
“What would I spend it on?” Bertholdt shrugged. “I don’t have a house, family or hobbies.”
“But these kids drained your savings in a matter of hours.”
Once again Bertholdt shrugged. “They deserve it. If I can make them happy then they can have my savings.” He smiled.
Pieck rolled her eyes. “You’re wasted as a soldier. You’d be better suited for a doctor,” She hummed. “You were always good a making me feel better.” She whispered.
Feeling his chest tighten Bertholdt cleared his throat. “You’re terrible.”
“I can’t help it when I’m around you.” She said jabbing his side lightly.
“We’re looking after the kids,” He said under his breath. “We can’t just disappear.”
Pieck giggled. “I know. It just means I have plenty of time to tease you.”
“Why do you enjoy getting me so… worked up?” Bertholdt pleaded.
Walking ahead of him Pieck looked back and smirked. “I don’t. I enjoy what comes afterwards.”
Before he could even blush Pieck had rushed to join the kids as they walked along the pier. After calming himself he followed them as they all sat with their legs hanging over the edge. Sighing heavily as he sat down Bertholdt smiled as he watched Zofia plat Pieck’s hair.
“Bertholdt?” Udo asked looking up at him.”
“Yes.”
“Where is Porco?”
Bertholdt’s smile faltered slightly. “He’s defending the empire of Marley, but he’ll be back soon.”
Udo smiled. “Good, then you can spend time with him, Pieck and the chief.”
Bertholdt narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”
“You haven’t had a chance to be together for ages. The war kept getting in the way.”
With wide eyes, Bertholdt shook his head. “You don’t have to worry about that,” He said patting the boy’s head. “Just focus on the being the best you can.”
“Is that how you got the Colossal Titan?” Falco asked.
Bertholdt felt his muscles stiffen at the sudden question. “Y-yes. I worked hard to make myself stand out.”
Udo and Falco looked up at him and smiled. “We’ll be sure work hard!”
“Then we can be like you!”
Slowly Bertholdt nodded. “Y-yeah.”
Looking over her shoulder Pieck saw the despair in Bertholdt’s eyes. She went to rest a hand on his shoulder when Falco caught his attention.
“Um… Bertholdt?”
“Yes?”
“Where is Gabi?”
Bertholdt stood up and looked around them with worry in his eyes. “Gabi!” He shouted. “Gabi where are you?”
Slowly Pieck got her feet and came to Bertholdt’s side. “I think I know where she went.” Bertholdt looked down at her with confusion in his eyes but it didn’t take long for the pieces to fit together. “I can go get her if you want?”
“No,” Bertholdt sighed. “You take the others back to the barracks. I won’t be long.”
Giving him a warm smile Pieck stood up on her tiptoes and planted a light kiss on his cheek. “Try not to take too long.”
Bertholdt matched her smile before breaking out into a jog down the various back streets of the port city. As he ran Bertholdt chastised himself for not realising sooner, for not paying enough attention to Gabi. Shaking his head he pushed the frustration and anger from his mind as he approached the house he hadn’t come near in over five years. Doing his best to calm his breathing Bertholdt balled his fists and knocked on the door the to Braun family.
The few seconds before the door opened felt like hours as Bertholdt dug his nails into his palms and when the door finally opened he nearly ran away.
The woman who met him tilted her head back and gasped at the sight that met her. “B-Bertholdt? Is that really you?”
Slowly Bertholdt nodded and with a dry throat, he spoke. “Yes… I-is Gabi here?”
Karina Braun stepped back into her home and looked over her shoulder. “She just got here, can’t she stay a while?”
Looking up at the sky Bertholdt saw the sun touch the horizon and smiled weakly. “We have a bit of time.”
Once inside Bertholdt immediately felt his stomach churn and his chest tighten. From the other side of the main table, Karina stared at the man. “Why did you never visit before?”
“I tried… but I couldn’t bring myself to come to… his home. I was too ashamed,” From the doorway, Gabi listened as her commander choked back tears. “R… He needed me and I failed him.”
Karina didn’t flinch as Bertholdt wiped the tears from his eyes. “You did your best in the service of Marley,” Deep within Bertholdt shuddered at her words, since returning he had heard them everyday and he quickly grew sick of them. “I’m sure Reiner would have been proud of your fight against the devils.”
Before he could respond Gabi rushed to the table and saluted her commander. “I’m sorry I left without warning.”
Relieved to see her Bertholdt stood up. “It’s okay,” He said smiling. “We had a feeling you’d come here.”
“We’re planning to celebrate Gabi’s service in the war,” Karina explained. “Would you join us?”
Gabi rushed to his side and pleaded. “We could invite everyone, even Pieck, and Porco.”
It took a little convincing but eventually, Bertholdt agreed to bring it up with the others. “You’ll have to do some of the convincing yourself,” Bertholdt said as he stood up. “Speaking of which we should be going now.”
Understanding, Gabi said her goodbyes and as she waited outside Bertholdt turned to Karina. “Thank you for having me.” He said with a warm smile.
Karina looked up at him with a blank stare and an empty smile. “And thank you… thank you for your service.”
Bertholdt let his gaze fall to the ground as Gabi walked ahead of him. “Do you miss him?”
“I don’t know,” Gabi chuckled. “I was too young to remember him when he left. All I have it aunt Karina’s stories about him. Do you miss Reiner?” Bertholdt felt his throat snap shut as his heart pounded against his chest. Stumbling forward he leant on the wall and did his best to calm himself as memories came flooding back. “Vice chief?”
To Bertholdt, Gabi’s concerned words sounded as if they were mere whispers. Clasping his hands over his ears Bertholdt did his best to silence the shouts and screams that haunted him. “Reiner,” He gasped. “I’m sorry.” His voice was weak, on the verge of breaking.
“B-Bertholdt?” Gabi could only watch in shock as her commander fell the ground. She, like every Eldian had heard stories of mighty Colossal Titan and the tall, stoic man that wielded it’s power but to see the ‘God of Destruction’ himself reduced to such a state shook her to her core. It was only when a familiar voice shouted to her did Gabi wake from her trance.
“Gabi? Is that you?”
Turning around Gabi saw Pieck slowly walking towards them. “I’m sorry I ran off without warning!” She saluted.
Pieck offered her a gentle smile. “It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone if you help me.” She said gesturing to Bertholdt. Resting a hand on his back Pieck knelt down to his level and her ached at what she saw.
Bertholdt’s eyes were wide, staring at the ground as his chest heaved. His entire body was shaking as if he were freezing yet he felt hot the touch. As she got closer Pieck could hear his hushed whispers repeating the same words over and over again.
“Reiner… I’m sorry… I’m sorry.”
Slowly Pieck eased Bertholdt to his feet and wrapped her arms around him to keep him up. “Come on, we’ve got to get home.”
Hearing her voice calmed Bertholdt slightly and his breathing slowed down. “I… I’m sorry you had to see that. Both of you.” He said looking past Pieck and to Gabi.
Gabi shook her head. “It’s my fault. I’m not supposed to ask about what happened on the island.”
Bertholdt smirked and pushed his hair back. “It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone, but we really should get back before curfew.”
“Yes, sir.” Gabi said as she took off ahead.
Walking side by side Bertholdt and Pieck smiled warmly at each other as the made their way through the now quiet town. “Gabi wants to celebrate the end of the war with everyone,” Bertholdt said.
“Everyone?”
“Once Porco gets back of course,” Bertholdt added. “What do you think?”
Pieck sighed. “I think the higher-ups will need a lot of convincing. Maybe they’ll be more lenient with the festival coming up.”
A small smile spread across Bertholdt’s lips. “I feel like the kids need a proper break.”
“I feel like we could do with a proper break,” Pieck sighed. “We didn’t even get to go on our honeymoon.” She giggled.
Bertholdt didn’t bother to stop himself from laughing. “If you keep joking like that people will think we’re actually married.”
This time I’ve gone lovely fluff to even more lovely angst in the name of BeruPieck! (Spoiler alert as well!)
Cannon-verse: If Bertholdt made it home from Shiganshina and Reiner didn’t)
Words: 1961
“REINER!” Bertholdt’s eyes shot open as he sat up in his bed, his chest was heaving and his brow was drenched with sweat. Looking around he slowly remembered where he was and his breathing calmed. Bertholdt took a deep breath and stood up, he slowly walked towards the small bathroom in his apartment and filled the sink.
After washing his face Bertholdt dried himself down and got dressed. He checked himself over in the mirror one last time before stepping outside. The corridors were mostly empty except for a handful of soldiers following their orders, when they saw him walking past them they would stop and whisper. Bertholdt did his best to ignore the almost the sycophantic obsession with his duty as the Colossal Titan.
He shut his eyes and walked towards the briefing room as quickly as possible. Turning the last corner Bertholdt didn’t have time to stop himself from colliding with a short figure with crutches.
Opening his eyes Bertholdt immediately apologised and offered an open hand. “Pieck, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you.”
Pieck looked up at Bertholdt and shook her head. “It’s alright.” She said taking his hand.
As Bertholdt pulled her to her feet he was shocked. She’s so light. He thought to himself moments before Pieck fell against his chest. Blushing heavily Bertholdt stumbled back and tripped over his own feet. As they fell Bertholdt instinctively clasped his arms around her frame to protect her from the impact.
Groaning in pain Bertholdt looked down at his chest and blushed. Pieck’s hair was strewn across her face and her eyes were closed. She looks like she’s sleeping. Bertholdt thought to himself with a gentle smile. It was only seconds later when Pieck shifted against him did his smile vanish, suddenly aware of their position Bertholdt threw his arms to the side and took a deep breath.
“A-are you okay?”
Pieck pushed her hair back and sighed. “I’m fine but you’re being usually clumsy,” She said as she sat upon his chest. “Is something wrong?”
Slowly Bertholdt shook his head and gave her a shaky smile. “I guess I’m still half asleep.” He chuckled.
Narrowing her eyes Pieck hummed. “Are you heading to the briefing?” Bertholdt nodded. “Well I’ll go with you, I need to talk to Zeke about something.”
Bertholdt smiled and nodded as he propped himself up on his elbows. “Um. Pieck, you’ll have to move.”
Sighing heavily Pieck leant forward and reached behind Bertholdt. “I would, but someone snapped my crutches.” She said holding up the broken remains of her wooden supports.
Blood rushed to Bertholdt’s cheeks. “I’m so sorry,” He stuttered. “I’ll get you a new pair from the infirmary.”
“You can get them later, I don’t want to make you late for your meeting with the chief,” Pieck explained as she pulled herself up against the wall.
“I can’t leave you here like this,” Bertholdt protested when he had an idea. “Maybe… I could carry you there. Since we’re both going to see Zeke.” He suggested.
For a moment Pieck was stunned silent, she looked over to the broken remains of her crutches. “Okay.” She nodded.
Taking a deep breath Bertholdt stood up to his full height and offered Pieck his open arms.
Pieck pushed away from the wall and fell into Bertholdt’s waiting arms. “You ready?” He asked. When she nodded he knelt down and brought his free arm behind her legs and picked her off the ground.
“Am I too heavy for you?” Pieck asked as she rested her hand against his chest.
Bertholdt shook his head. “Not at all. I guess all that training has paid off.” He chuckled.
“It has,” Pieck smirked. “Maybe I should hire you to be my chauffeur.”
Looking down at her Bertholdt narrowed his eyes as he walked. “You do realise I’m your superior officer.”
Pieck hummed. “Not when we’re alone.”
“What are you talking about?”
Stifling the laugh in her throat Pieck shook her head. “I’ll tell you when you’re older.”
“Whatever you say.” Bertholdt sighed as he walked up the stairs.
“You know I’m impressed,” Pieck said with a devilish smile.
As he approached Zeke’s office Bertholdt raised an eyebrow. “By what?”
“By you. Normally if you were this close to a girl you’d be a blushing, flustered mess.” Pieck said as she shifted in his arms.
Bertholdt cleared his throat. “Well, I couldn’t leave you down there.”
“You’re too much of a good guy.” She whispered as she pressed her head against his chest.
Worried that she could feel his pounding heart Bertholdt began walking faster and it didn’t take him long to reach Zeke’s door. He went to lower Pieck to the floor but she merely held on tighter. “I can’t walk to the chair. You’ll have to carry me inside.”
“B-but Porco and Zeke are in there.”
“So you’ll leave me to fall through the door? Maybe I was wrong about you.”
Bertholdt sighed. “Fine.”
Clasping her hands together Pieck smiled. She reached out and opened the door as Bertholdt stepped forward.
Inside Zeke was sat at his desk humming at the documents on his desk. Groaning loudly he leant back his chair and threw his glasses onto the tower of papers.
“What’s up with you?” Porco asked from his chair.
Zeke rubbed his eyes. “Call it pains of being War chief,” He chuckled dryly. “Anyway, where are Pieck and Bertholdt? They should be here by now.”
As if on cue the door suddenly opened and both Zeke and Porco looked to the door. “What took you so long-” Porco’s voice trailed off as Bertholdt stepped inside with a smiling Pieck in his arms.
“Did we miss the wedding?” Zeke said with a raised eyebrow.
Bertholdt simply took a deep breath and stepped inside and Pieck looked up at him. “Oh, it was wonderful. Margarth walked me down the aisle,” Porco cracked a smile as Bertholdt gently lowered her onto the nearby sofa Zeke had prepared. “Thank you dear.” She said as he took his own seat.
Leaning on his elbows Zeke smirked. “Forgive my rabid curiosity but, why was our legendarily nervous vice commander carrying a woman such as yourself in his arms?”
“Because he is a gentleman and offered to carry me up the stairs,” She said giving Bertholdt a quick wink before turning her attention to Porco. “Which is more than can be said for you.”
“You nearly scared me to death! I wasn’t going to carry you after that.”
Pieck shook her head. “You’ll never find a partner if you make them crawl up the stairs.”
“You know,” Zeke hummed. “Pieck’s right but I didn’t call you here to mock Porco. We have a lot to discuss,” He said looking over to Bertholdt. “The negotiations with the Middle East union are going well and we actually have some downtime. And I want to use this time very carefully.”
“How so?” Bertholdt asked.
“We can all agree that Titans are no longer a viable weapon of war. So it won’t be long until the Marelians realise they don’t need us anymore. We need to show the world that they’re wrong.”
Bertholdt leant forward. “What did you have in mind?”
Zeke clasped his hands together and smiled. “I’ll discuss this with Margarth and Colt.”
“So we just have to sit tight and wait for orders?” Pieck asked.
“Exactly right.” He smirked.
Porco stood up and headed to the door. “You’re the boss. I’ll see you guys around.”
Once he was gone Zeke put his glasses back on and picked up the papers on his desk. “So are you two moving in together?” He asked.
Bertholdt stood up and rolled his eyes. “Very funny sir.”
Pieck however smirked. “Dear, could you take me back to my room?”
“Don’t encourage him!”
“I’m not, I’m merely asking to be taken back to my room.” She said fluttering her eyes.
Bertholdt rubbed his eyes and sighed once again. “Fine.” He said offering her his hand.
Thanking him, Pieck took his hand and soon found herself lifted into the air before being pressed against his chest. “You two are adorable,” Zeke smirked as Bertholdt walked through the door.
Bertholdt kicked the door shut behind him and looked down at Pieck. “You’re enjoying this.”
Pieck laughed. “What gave it away?”
Rolling his eyes Bertholdt walked towards her room. “Didn’t the doctor say you should be walking?”
“I was until you broke my crutches.”
“I can take you to the infirmary if you want.” He said stopping in his tracks.
Pieck smirked and shook her head. “I like this though,” She said resting a hand on his heart. “Having a charming man such as yourself carry me around.”
“Look, I’m tired, I’m hungry and I just want some time alone. I’m going to take you to the infirmary.” He sighed.
“That’s one of the reasons why I’m here. I don’t want you to be alone.”
Looking down Bertholdt saw that the smile on Pieck’s lips was gone. “W-what are you talking about?”
“Since you came back. You’ve changed. You’re… calmer.”
“Is that bad?”
Pieck nodded. “You’re calmer when you’re around others, but when you’re alone I know how you really feel.”
Bertholdt felt his heart drumming in his ears. “How?”
“Because I miss them too. We all do.”
“They died because of me,” Bertholdt said in a tone. “I lost them. If I was stronger or quicker Reiner and Marcel would still be alive and Annie wouldn’t be in the hands of those lunatics.”
Pieck reached up and pressed her hand against his cheek. “You nearly died as well.”
“I didn’t save myself, you did. Tha-”
Pieck put her finger over his lip. “Don’t thank me more than you already have.”
“Reiner warned me not to rely on others so much. He told me that he wouldn’t be there to save him, and I lost him. He was right.” Bertholdt said choking back tears.
Pieck soothed his aching heart and offered him a weak smile. “You won the war the union. Without you the war would have gone on for at least three more years. You saved lives.”
“You sound like the Margarth.”
“And he was right.”
Bertholdt let out a shaky breath. “Can you see why I’m so tired?”
“Can you see why I don’t want you to be left alone. I can see it in your eyes, you’re not just tired of war, you’re tired of living.”
Pieck nodded. “That and the fact I don’t want to be dropped.”
“So what are you going to do? Hang onto to me for the next few years?”
“Maybe Zeke had a point. Moving in together.” Pieck suggested as she slowly brought Bertholdt’s lips towards her own.
The warmth of the kiss took Bertholdt by surprise but he soon melted into it as their lips melted against each others. He carefully lowered her to her feet and backed her against the wall, making sure to support her he kept one arm around her waist.
He pressed the kiss forward, pushing his tongue against her lips. When he felt her mirror his advances Bertholdt thought his heart would explode. Pieck lifted the hem of his shirt and pressed her hands against his skin, her fingers traced around his waist and she pulled him closer to her until the lines between their bodies blurred.
Pulling away for breath Pieck looked up at him and smiled. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”
Bertholdt didn’t say a word as he picked her up once again in his arms. “W-where to next?”
“My room. Now.” Pieck suggested with heavy breaths.
Just had a thought. This world needs more Berupieck. She would tease him sooooo much during their dates but on nice calm days they would just lie on their sofa and read quietly. They would be too cute together!
Berupikku is so soft dude. Them cuddling in the morning would be the softest thing.
Oh gawd yes❤ Bert is definitely the best cuddler, and Pieck likes to be held and likes it when he runs his fingers through her hair.Such a sweet pairing😭😍
