The man hides in the cupboard, the only view he has to the outside door is through the crack in the cupboard, his eyes burn because he takes so long to blink...he doesn’t want to close them.

He does his best not to make a sound...and to ignore the noises. He does his best to ignore the clicking and clacking as the thing moves, to ignore the distorted voice of his wife and to ignore the constant...screaming...crows... it’s driving him mad and all he wants to do is get out of there and scream and--

And then it all stops.

For hours, the man is consumed by fear, too much to move, for hours he remains there. Only when the sun rays come in through the crack does he close his eyes and a sigh of relief escapes his mouth.

Then he opens his eyes again.

And sees something staring back at him through the cracks.

The last thing he ever hears...is the scream of his mouth, coming from this thing...
