I am grateful and honored to be featured on this list and to share space with so many interesting and diverse artists. In the shadow of playing for WIRE’s Pink Flag Guitar Orchestra at The Metro, this woman in burlap is well....pink! 

I want to thank my band mates, Eric Schmidt, Daniel Majid, Adrian Vigliano for all their hard work, talent, and guidance. I am grateful I was raised by parents who encouraged me to follow my dreams and pursue my interests in writing, theatre, and the arts, albeit its “impracticality,” I am grateful to an artistic community that has received us so warmly, and with enthusiasm and urgency - an energy I always hope to bring to my music and performances. This Summer she speaks in tongues gets to play with Chicago indie veterans Eleventh Dream Day and Azita; and later, for a women-centric music and art festival BitchFest. I get to give some love and light back this year, as she speaks in tongues is performing for the campers at Girls Rock! Chicago, an organization I have long supported; and I am teaching a workshop on vocal looping. On top of that, my partner and I will be celebrating one year of being first time parents and the birth of our son next week. I am facing new songs, projects, and collaborations this year. This is a proud moment. Thank you Sasha Geffen for your thoughtful write up and for your work in journalism.
