Fun & Easy Fitness Tips For You & Your Pet!
It’s REEDiculously easy to fit in exercise and feel better when you let your pet help!
1. Take the stairs with your pooch! Climbing steps together will sculpt your legs and help both of you burn calories. Skip a step as if you were lunging to build great glutes! Use the stairs in your home or building- It’s that easy!
2. Strength Train Before Cardio for the Both of You!
Everyone wants to lose weight, but many think it’s all about the cardio. It’s time to change that mindset! Before you do cardio with your pet, perform strength exercises together first! The more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn at rest! Use your own body weight to lift in your home if you do not have equipment, and you will have instant accountability (your pet)! Then you have everything you need to get a great full body workout at home with your best buddy!
3. Stretch like a cat! Have you ever noticed how often cats stretch? Next time your cat stretches, stretch with him or her! Stretching improves flexibility and mobility, and it also reduces injuries from wear and tear as you age and stay safe at home. Hold your stretches for at least 15 seconds. 4. Voice your positive thoughts! You’re always telling your pets how much you love them, but how often do you tell yourself? It may sound silly, and it’s a difficult time right now, but the more you voice your positive thoughts (for example: how you feel and tell yourself about your body) the more you will want to take care of yourself by working out and eating healthy at home! Spend as much time caring for yourself as you do your pet. Over time, you will begin to change your outlook on life and will make working out a part of your lifestyle - just like walking your dog!
5. Drink more water! Water is essential to your health and happiness! Remember if you are already thirsty or see your pet panting, you are both already dehydrated. Both of you sip it up before you are thirsty! Drink a glass of water and fill up your pet’s bowl before every meal, and before, during and after your workouts together!
6. Track It… and Move Together! When you take your pets for walks, journal and track it together. You are going to join them in achieving an extra step, an extra flight of stairs, or a stretch. And when they stop, you continue -for example: Every time they stop, perform 10 squats, the next time they stop- Stretch! Every little bit counts! The more conscious and present you can be to do an exercise when they stop to sniff/etc, the better you will feel and the more calories you will burn and you’ll begin to fit in exercise when you lest expected it! YAY YOU!
Pick one of these tips and begin your fitness, health and happiness challenges with your pets! Taking small opportunities to implement any of these small healthy habits make very big impacts. You and your pet will be looking good and feeling good from the inside out!
