More Umbra "what is their outfit" sketches. I wanted them to have a stiff and formal vibe with a simpler feel than some of the other units. Someone plain and unassuming.
ramblings about the second pair of images under the cut; it touches on some more emotionally intense subject matter.
this was from a scenario where um. basically Thorns had a habit of visiting PU unannounced and disconnecting them from their structure so they'd be forced to take proper rest cycles. This is framed as a bad dream, hence Umbra seeming distressed and hugging biscuit for emotional support. Umbra values their productivity to an unhealthy degree, and they also value their autonomy. They want to be in control of everything at all times. Someone more well-adjusted might just be a little annoyed by this, but to Umbra, it's a terrifying possibility.
I do think TWR definitely does this at some point in main canon; I'm just not sure when. MIP dreams can sometimes be distorted memories or predictions of what's to come.
TWR definitely has mostly good intentions here, she just fails to recognize Umbra's agency as an important factor. Less Rest Cycles = More Emotional Instability and Lessened Efficiency. This can be solved by forcing more rest cycles. More Efficiency is Always Good. Thorns' more rigid thinking can lead to such behavior. (This isn't a healthy way of solving problems, by the way. Communication is good)
(MIP Units do not automatically force rest cycles when properly connected to their structures, as their power cores are stabilized. However, rest cycles are still recommended for maintenance purposes. I'll re-state this later in a post that's better suited for explaining mipstuff.)
TWR doodles related to a scene in boxline canon. SLS and FB were taking an extended stay at Counting Strings Of Beads / The General M2 Area and the Director wasn't happy about it. They wanted SLS and FB to return home already, so they sent TWR to come and badger them about it. SLS and FB didn't really want to leave, and Beads understood that, so she didn't want to give them up at first. Beads also knew more about the Mobile Iterator Project than NCTG wanted her to.
Because of these reasons, TWR ended up threatening Gathering Petals to get through to Beads and get SLS and FB back home (and back under control.) Thorns was successful because she is an infallible girlboss who never loses. Also, she perhaps enjoyed the threats of violence a little too much.
(and also she accidentally broke petals' arm but thats not rlly relevant tbh)
Here's the second vignette. i have no idea how much you can make out with JUST images but im putting this both under spoilers and giving some content warnings
theres violence, specifically strangulation. but also kicking. perhaps it should be labeled as physical abuse? it's one-sided.
theres a gap of time in between here. thorns and sls are helping test something. physical violence is called for, enough to damage the puppet badly. in a rewrite id probably change this since testing methods of activation would make more sense to do without thorns present ;;;
ill give you the context that this was related to testing the "Self-Preservation" mode.
