Since these aren't made by us, we have no control over the stretch. We've sent in a suggestion that they make them stretchier. I (with 17" calves) can't fit them either. :( 

For a similar look that is just as darling, try Lace Socks with Ribbons over a pair of knee socks that do fit. The ties are super long, stretchy, and stay in place well. They're also mostly nylon, which means that they will probably take dye well if you're feeling crafty!

You know the black dress Maggie Gyllenhaal wears in Hysteria? It bothers me very much. Why put her in a strapless dress when everyone else is wearing pretty authentic looking Victorian dresses? It even looks like the top part is a corset.

I haven’t seen Hysteria, but I know what you’re talking about.  I was surprised, too.  In fact, when I'd first heard of it and saw that part in the trailers I had no idea it was supposed to take place in the Victorian era (even though the plot and the name probably should have given it away).

I remember more pictures of the woman wearing the white one. Who is she? My friend has a pretty small torso, so I wanted to show her someone closer to her size so she can get a better idea of how it will look on her.

Small as in short? Or small as in with? The 511 will fit the same was as the 426, except with the bust coverage. I don't know who she is particularly... but she posted the pictures on the facebook page. There was only one other, and I remember it being of a different view.
