You could go the old-fashioned route and wear as many clothes as you can bear... Only slightly joking.
Don’t think I haven’t tried.

If you bind enough that it reduces your skin's elasticity, does that affect how well your top surgery will go? As in, would you have better results if you had never bound, or does it not really matter?
Sometimes it can affect which types of top surgery you can get, as well as how good the results will be wrt things like scarring and nipple sensation.
In general, the better elasticity your skin has, the better the results will be.
But of course a lot still depends on how good your surgeon is.
Do you have ideas for what to say on the phone? I have never called a representative or senator before and I have extreme social anxiety, I usually don't even call family members or friends. I know this is important but I really don't know what to say. That isn't your responsibility so feel free to decline or throw this out I just don't know what else to do nobody in my family would call for me, they'd get mad if I asked.
bethylgrixon said: Do you have any script(s) for calling your representative? I want to call mine about Stephanie Murphy’s bill. (I live in Florida)
hello sweetie pies!! i’m so proud of you for tackling your anxieties and doing something we all hate (talking on the phone) for the sake of a greater good. I’m also happy to tell you that Sen. Mark Warner has introduced a bill that would hopefully subject Bannon’s appointment to Congressional approval. I would recommend something like this:
“Hi, my name is [your name] and I’m a constituent from [your town/zip code]. I’m calling to strongly urge [Rep.’s name] to support Stephanie Murphy and Mark Warner in enabling Congress to keep political operatives like Steve Bannon off the National Security Council. [I don’t like sounding like an alarmist but]* Steve Bannon is a white supremacist who has openly stated his intention to destroy the regulatory state and he should NOT be given a seat on a level with military and security experts. Will you please pass that message on to the senator/congresswoman? [pause 4 them to say yes.] Thanks.”
*i feel more comfortable using these little asides bc i really DON’T like sounding like an alarmist but i know i DO. you may prefer to stick to a less personal script.
IF YOU’RE FEELING BOLDER, FEEL FREE TO CUSTOMIZE! FOR INSTANCE:
“If [Rep’s name] doesn’t support these bills, it will allow a dangerous ideologue to undermine our national security, and my community and I will work to ensure that someone more responsible gets her seat in the next election. Will you tell her that? Thanks.”
I recommend googling first to see if your rep has a stated position on Steve Bannon. If they do, it’s probably “I don’t like this guy:” thank them for standing against him and say that supporting these bills is a concrete way to keep him away from the levers of power. If they haven’t said anything, or if by some bananas chance they like him, 1) I’m sorry and 2) keep hammering the “Steve Bannon is a threat to national security and if you enable him we will oust you” angle.
AGAIN UR SO BRAVE AND ILY!!!!! Any other recommendations, guys?
ETA FROM @kavkakati: “I also like to thank the call reciever at the end? just to say “thank you for your time answering the calls” or w/e.” very good advice yes!
7, 17, 18, 30, 44 :)
Ahhh one of my favourite people on here/Earth!!
7) Dramione, Lucissa, Wolfstar, Scorbus, Theo/Blaise
17) Hard one! Old books, sharp citrus, berries, mint, and mangoes (random, I know, but…)
18) Potions, or Arithmancy. I love science and maths, so those seem really great to me! But I also love astronomy and animals, so maybe CoMC…so many choices!!
30) Something like Reducto, or Confringo they seem like fun. Although I’d probably use Accio all the time for the laziest stuff :p
44) Cloak! Every time! Power is always good, but that wand is ridiculous, and the Resurrection stone is pointless!
Thanks for the questions lovely! x
bethylgrixon replied to your post “is it anxiety, low blood sugar? am i about to die of a heart attack?...”
eat something <3 drink some water or something sugary. let me know how you feel afterwards
@bethylgrixon i’ve been drinking water all morning and i just had breakfast like 3 hours ago so i’m thinking maybe not my blood sugar? but who knows, i’m a mess of a human rn
Not sure what started the straw discourse (?), but I have one of these (bit ly 2PrHHlE) pretty glass straws that comes with a little scrub brush. I live in Florida so it's hot almost year round... and it's a nice conversation starter for people who don't really think about single-use plastic, or really sustainability as a whole. But I get that it's not a practical idea for everyone.
It started because people couldn’t stay in their own lanes and acknowledge the simple fact that things like metal and glass straws are not feasible alternatives for all disabled people to use because they pose several hazards to health, and then felt the need to go on misinformed rants about how single use plastic straws are the leading factor in wrecking the environment when they most certainly are not.
To give you an example of how batshit this experience has been for me, I went out last night for 3 hours. In the time it took for me to go out, paint a gnome and come home, I had been sent 156 nasty messages about the use of plastic straws, all of them some level of accusatory and hostile nonsense.
That’s nearly one message per minute telling me my ability to drink water easily and without risk, is not as important as their performative eco activism. And that’s wild.
So of course now I’m angry and that’s bad too. I’m not being a good sick person, my tone is hurtful, I’m being too mean, I should be more patient, etc etc etc
Cause y’know, I’m obligated to smile at the people telling me my inability to swallow liquids in a safe and pain free manner is killing the planet.
Lemme tell you, it’s a damn good thing I’m hydrated right now, or I’d have died from all the saltiness I’m feeling, I stg.
