Thoughts about everything happening in and around Ferguson
As most of us know, the officer who shot Michael Brown was ruled as not guilty because of insufficient evidence.
I will tell you that this does suck. It’s terrible! A white officer just went and shot a kid because he was black. It’s wrong.
However, that doesn’t mean that people should start causing riots and trying so hard as to get people, who aren’t “supporting” the cause, to lose their jobs or to completely be attacked via Internet. I understand that people are extremely enraged with the verdict but going as to how these last couple of days have been chaotic, this isn’t what America should be.
America should be a country of equality. When equality comes into mind, it is about forgiveness with everyone but never forgetting what has happened. Forgetting is letting everything go and let the problems that started before to begin again in a cycle. America doesn’t want to forget this and we shouldn’t. We don’t forget because if we did, we wouldn’t correct our mistakes if this type of thing were to happen again. Right now, America is not forgiving others or forgetting. Instead, people over Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and everywhere else have been attacking each other. We’re either telling others that Feurguson is causing ruckuses over just a colored boy and being very racial about it or attacking those who are being racial for this cause.
Everyone needs to stop with these attacks because we’re all brother and sisters in this world. We shouldn’t be fighting amongst ourselves because of the anger that is within our hearts. We’re all so deeply hurt and scared that we’re doing this to each other. We must stand and protect one another to stop another case like this to happen.
If one was to be racial about Michael Brown or Ferguson, do not attack them verbally or physically. Ask them, “Why? Why are you saying those kinds of things?” And patiently wait for their reply.
If you see someone being beaten up, protect them but don’t hit them back. We’re not all there to fight in violence but in peace for Michael Brown because for Brown, it had begun with violence in his end. We must bring a peace to wash over America to provide the safety of everyone living here.
If you’re a police officer, please do not try to bring violence onto the protesters. Instead, find a way as to bring order. Maybe coming out to the protesters without any weapons or shields. Grab their attention gently, loudly, clearly without any sorts of physical or hurtful gestures.
These ideas that I have are probably silly or hippie like but this what I deeply believe we should do. If not these ideas then maybe something close to them that isn’t aggressive or life endangering. Trying to clear people’s thoughts could be one or thinking before leaping into action.
Please help this get to others around Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, etc. We all need to protect each other and prevent what happened to Brown to never happen again.
