Rambling Ahead!

Yo! I'm constantly playing with the thought of completely changing the games design. It'd be easy since I haven't done much other than the facesets and the first map. Everything's too big for my liking eventhough I created the big sprites and big maps on purpose, but working with it is harder than I expected. I know going back and forth when you're not even halfway done is kinda stigmatized, but seriously, who gives a shit? It's my project after all and I never meant to finish it in a certain timespan anyway. I mean I don't want to sound rude or anything, but I've come across some weird opinions lately, kinda pressuring game developers to devote all their free time to the community because otherwise you wouldn't be a real game dev. Where's the connection, you ask? I don't fecking know it myself, I just know that it drives me crazy, seeing fellow game devs thinking they have any right to tell others how to behave and how to do their job. It's really demotivating reading that you're apparently not doing your best when you know you are. I'm containing myself okay, I'm actually nothing more than a small rage-kid, but whenever I start to rage my voice gets really high and I write nonsense, so I'll stop this mess now with a final conclusion: No one can tell you how to work on your fucking game for fricks fuck seriously, do your thing and enjoy it, no one has the right to pressure anyone to work any other way. I sound so offended and attacked but I'm actually not lol I'm just a furious man, brabbeling about my feelings, don't worry, I'm fine.

(ignore the stained paper haha) ANYWAY! LAZY CHARACTER INTRODUCTION! I don't have the time for pixelart or facesets, so have a kind-of-ref for now (I made his face way to long). This, my children, is Berger. Bruno Berger, but most people call him by his last name. He's the Blacksmith of Zentre and a former childhood friend of Augustin. The word 'former' plays an important role, since they haven't seen each other for almost 8-9 years due to Augustin traveling so much. It's not a big spoiler, but Berger's pretty pissed because Augustin was his best friend and he basically dropped him like a hot iron after he left to study abroad. He's my bitter Bara and I love him very much. It seems like being bitter is his only character trait, but fear not, there's much more to him than muscles and an angry expression (I really love him dearly, you just have to get to know him) ((i love him so much)) Yeah that's it for now, he'll be the next one to get a faceset though, feat not!

House Update!

As you may have noticed, I’m not very fast at ... basically everything, haha. It’s still a WIP, but soon to be finished. I originally planned the games style to be kinda minimalistic and plain but later on decided that I want to pour as much heart, blood, sweat and tears into my project as I possibly could, because duh, I’m all for that stress and dying ™ . I won’t spend as much time on the other houses as I did for Costas tho, hhhhhhh.

Anyway, I hope you like it, eventhough my process has been limited to art and story mainly. Wish y’all a nice sunday! ♥

Bet’ya thought I was dead! Well you probably did not think I was dead, I am very much sure no one noticed my absence either way, whoops, haha. Anyway!

I accidentally deleted my whole script without backing it up first (really stupid, I know) and decided to take a step back from actually writing stuff, because writing it again doesn’t sound like much fun and to be honest I lost a good portion of courage because of that. Instead I’m finally working on planning the story as a whole, since I was still lacking a proper ending and an antagonist for the longest time, but I seem to have figured it out... at least a bit, I guess? I mean I need everything from encountering the problem for the first time to the Grand Finale but at least knowing what the frick the Finale is about is really helpful I must say 8D 

Man, this sounds like I know nothing about my own game, kinda sad, wow. But fear not, it’s all in my head, I just need to put everything into order first. 

But speaking about creating endings/actual storylines, may I introduce you to this lovely Lady above us? 

She’s the (very sketchy) first version of a Gal called Milena, another motherly figure in a forest full of goddamn motherly figures. I’ll probably write another post about her but for now I can’t tell you very much about her as a person, since I’d spoiler basically everything lollllll gomenasai (but she’s not really developed yet so even if I told you her story, it wouldn’t make much sense and would be pretty boring tbhhh)

WOW this post is so long, I actually wanted to rant a bit too for a second but I’ll leave that for another post I guess. 

Anyway, that’s it, nothing too special, just me, rambling and a quick sketch. I hope I nevertheless entertained you in some way, haha!

Anyway, here's a quick height chart, starting with Augustin who's just a tall walking stick with little to no muscles hahahhhhh, poor dude. Hillary's actually pretty tall, too, and Costa is just a small precious baby, I think we all can agree on that. If anyone's asking themselves who that hot piece of pie (Productplacement?) behind Augustin is: That has yet to be revealed! Spoiler alert tho, he's one of the good guys and actually no one special, I just love him dearly.

Edit haha: Btw, do you have this specific song that just reminds you of “better” times? For me it’s Wuthering Heights by Katie Bush because I’ve heard it over a long persiod of time while working on my game and I just stumbled over it again literally a minute ago and got so many flashbacks good lord

Aloha my sweet, sweet children!

Don't get your hopes up too high, this is sadly not an update haha! I'm still working like a honeybee, but on aspects I can't show you right now since I'm either working on the (for now) german script or on unfinished face sets, so there's that. I also celebrated my 18th birthday yesterday and got some cool witch-related literature for research purposes! So I'm definitely still in the game (lol literally)! But I wanted to show you a quote from a skeptical villager of Zentre - as some kind of compensation. You must know, Costa's not very frequently in town so many people don't know her at all. In the beginning she makes her way to the local pub to gain information about her brothers disappearance but as soon as she enters, she gets confronted with a barrier of some sort, since a few villagers have decided to stay there because there's plenty of food there, even during those dark time with unknown entities haunting the forest. So, Costa enters the room and a man, fearing for his life, begins to fight with her: A frightened villager: "Get out!! Immediately! She's a witch, can't you see?! She'll kill us like those figures killed our neighbours!!" A not so frightened villager: "Good God, Harold, shut up! We're basically all witches, stupid!"
