The thing tgat bugs me about people saying Rayllum was ""rushed"" like, yeah they've only known each other for a month. But it wasn't a month of only seeing each other for brief periods of time, it was a month of spending literally every waking moment together. That makes a difference. We've only seen like 5% of their time together.
Honestly Rayllum makes so much sense, as does their speed to me, because like… that’s just what university friendships are like? Like I’ve travelled with strangers through the wilderness for six days and we bonded like crazy, and that wasn’t even with like, saving each other’s lives or being all one another could depend on. Same thing for university: I tend to form fast and intense friendships, particularly at university, when you’re away from your family. Rayllum dumping all their insecurities / family baggage on each other within a couple of days and/or weeks? Been there, done that.
When you go through extremely emotional things with each other - saving one another’s life or the loss of a parent - it changes you and your relationships, like irrevocably. Just one those would likely be enough, in all honesty, nevermind saving one another’s life multiple times, turning on your people / leaving home for a joint mission, strengthening your trust in the face of other betrayals, almost dying / losing each other on multiple occasions, inspiring one another to take new paths, etc.
There’s so much of Rayllum we don’t get to see. Who sets up camp for the night and cooks food. Waking each other up (okay, most likely Rayla waking up Callum) in the mornings. Groggy early morning discussions when they first start walking for the day. Commenting on the scenery and the weather. Shenanigans and jokes with Zym and Ezran. Callum sharing stories, flat out, because when you’re travelling there’s nothing to do but talk.
Not to mention, look at their cute faces. The minute Rayla offered to go back into the tower, or when Callum pushed the boat away? Would’ve been over for me. Rayla in particular had some goddamn restraint.
