The two ships that started it all for me
John and Aeryn -Farscape
Sam and Jack - Stargate SG1
John and Aeryn
My first ever ship, the ship I was shipping before I even knew what shipping was.
I think your first ever ship, especially one you found in your teenage years, can hold a very special place in your heart and John & Aeryn definitely do with me.
There is something so special about them and not just because their chemistry is fire but their story is one of the most beautiful and well crafted stories I've ever seen on screen.
From strangers, to reluctant allies, to ship mates, to friends, partners and family, to lovers, to a strained relationship then back to lovers and finally husband and wife and parents, it was an evolving relationship that was written so well and so naturally that it kept you enthralled from their very first meeting to their beautiful happy ending.
They are one of only a few of my ships who actually got an onscreen happy ending that was satisfying and perfectly completed their story. John and Aeryn truly have a love story for the ages ❤️
Sam and Jack
Another ship of mine that I discovered in my teenage years who has, like John & Aeryn, remained with me ever since.
A different kind of relationship in many aspects, as during the majority of the shows run, it was against regulations for them to pursue a romantic relationship given their ranks in the military. That, however, did not stop the feelings that grew between them, feelings they both acknowledged and reciprocated but that they couldn't act on.
There were many many moments between them and even a few kisses, though mostly AU, and though both tried to have relationships with other people, it never worked out and it was pretty clear that no one else could match up to what they felt for each other.
I know there are many people who, like me, are pretty certain they finally got together at the end of season 8 and there are a few clues and hints that support this assumption as the last two seasons go on. Including a very telling deleted scene in Stargate's sister show. I know some people don't count deleted scenes as canon, but as long as it doesn't contradict the ongoing story, I personally tend to accept them as canon, this one especially and I really wish they had kept it in!
Once again the chemistry is amazing, from their very first meeting the sparks were there and their relationship was written so well that even without official onscreen confirmation, it's only natural that once they had the chance, they would get together.
I know Sam and Jack are together, happily married and living their best life but I just wonder and hope that maybe, with the new Stargate series looking more and more likely, that we may finally get the official confirmation we've been hoping for for years, I think the fans definitely deserve it! ❤️
