ok so i was thinking about this moment in children of the gods, when sam sees the event horizon for the first time and just stands there looking at it in utter awe:

and i realized that jack didn’t get to have that moment for himself— or rather, he didn’t let himself have it. because his first trip through the stargate was supposed to be a suicide mission. he wasn’t in any mood to appreciate the finer things in life, or even life in general. it certainly wouldn’t have occurred to him that he should stop and smell the roses (or in this case, stop and stare at the event horizon lol).

so he lets sam have her moment, gives her the space to stop and truly appreciate the enormity of what they’re about to do, the wonder of it all… and then he yeets her through the wormhole sgsgsgshdhdjfkffk
