J Edward Khrist to Sophia James
Lighting a single candle on the top of the tiny cake intended just for the recipient and their baby, he brought the lit cake with him as he he began a low, tone deaf and awful rendition of Happy Birthday. Tracking down his wife.
Sophia James
Hearing him before she would see him, she caught a glimpse of him as he came into the living room where she and Eden were playing on the floor. As his song ended, there was a laugh to her lips. “Thank you, Baby,” she offered, finding her knees on the floor where Eden was trying to push herself up.
J Edward Khrist
Holding the cake above the baby and out of her reach so she could blow out her candle. Waiting until she had before his lips were at her cheek. "Happy birthday, hun." He'd state warmly to her.
Sophia James
Blowing out the single candle, she felt his kiss there to her cheek. “Thank you,” she offered again before looking down to Eden. “You think it would be okay to give her a taste too?”
J Edward Khrist
"That's why I got this one." He pointed out, as it would be a great size for the two of them. Reaching up a small bit of icing at the base of the cake to guide it to her bottom lip. Watching her carefully taste. Seemingly shocked with the sweetness. "What do you think? Don't be one of those weird people who don't like cake."
Sophia James
Watching as he offered the six month old a taste, the little one’s reaction had a laugh to her mother’s lips. “I don’t know if she likes it...” she commented honestly as the reaction didn’t seem to be true excitement, but more of uncertainty.
J Edward Khrist
"Don't do it." Still holding out as her face seemed to be constantly changing. After a hesitant moment, she'd lean into her fathers finger to get more off the tip to be just as confused at what she found. Still seemingly amazed at the taste there
Sophia James
Watching the baby discover icing for the first time, it would be added to all of the other firsts her parents got the opportunity to witness, seemingly just as amazed as she was at every step. “I think we have a winner?” She offered, bringing her own finger to the edge to steal a taste for herself.
J Edward Khrist
"She's still not sure. You want a piece of this now?" He'd ask as he straightened to carry the cake back to the table. The dogs already rallying to the baby in attempt to get a taste as he walked back to the kitchen to grab a knife.
Sophia James
As he went for the kitchen, she was pulling Eden up into her lap before rising from the floor to protect her from the two that wanted a taste as well. “Sure,” she agreed, knowing Eden was going to want more as she started to fuss at its disappearance.
J Edward Khrist
Cutting into the cake where he managed her a piece that was probably much to large. Another plate getting a smaller piece for the baby to pick through as he walked to the table. Setting the plates down as he slid the front off of her high chair so they could really commit to the task.
Sophia James
As he prepared the cake as well as the chair, she brought Eden to the seat where she strapped her in despite her full cry now leaving her. “It’s so sad!” Soph offered, looking to Judas. “I think she wants more,” she agreed through the baby’s cries.
J Edward Khrist
"My lil' one. Never." He stated sarcastically, as how could she ever want something and scream bloody murder for it as he waited until Soph had her entirely strapped in to slide the table part against the high chair. "Alright, alright." Grabbing one of her small spoons where he got a small piece of the actual cake and icing on it, he guided it to her lips.
Sophia James
Watching as Judas came to the rescue, easing the cries of the little girl who had yet to realize she would never want for anything in this life. Watching as he gathered a bite for her, Soph bit her own tongue as to not warn him to keep those bites small as she was still so little, trusting him entirely. As Eden was now satisfied, Soph took her first bite, humming her satisfaction a moment later. “This is great cake,” she offered, going for another bite already.
J Edward Khrist
Keeping the bites small as he could already feel the anxiety pulling off of his wife. Hearing her approve of it, he'd nod gently. "Philly classic." He offered in return. "A lot of people like it." He showed as his own gauge on what was good and what wasn't.
Sophia James
Taking another bite, she would hum her response, finding it to be incredible, enjoying each bite more than the last as she seemed to forget any concern that existed for the bite sizes with Eden as it was hard to think beyond her own in that moment. Setting her fork down a few minutes later, she leaned back in her chair, a heavy sigh to her lips as she felt the fullness as well as the sweet remnants at the corners of her mouth. “Thank you so much, Judas. I loved it and I love you.”
J Edward Khrist
Still carefully guiding mostly icing to the little ones lips, he heard his wife and would nod. "No need to thank me." He reminded her, as it simply came with the territory. "Plus, once I get you nice and fat you can never leave me." He'd tease dryly.
Sophia James
Hearing his explanation on things, she couldn’t help the laugh against her lips. “Oh? Is that your plan?” She asked, finding it comical seeing as she was never going anywhere. “And what shall I do to make sure you never leave me?” She asked as it was just as big of a threat in her mind as it was in reverse in his.
J Edward Khrist
"No one wants me!" He enthusiastically reminded her, eyeing the woman. "Another piece of cake then?"
Sophia James
Hearing his reminder, she’d find it just as ridiculous as the idea he had suggested. “What if we were to both realize that we are exactly where we belong and where we want to be and that nothing and no one will ever take us from one another?” she suggested, her eyes meeting his as she gently shook her head no to his offer of another slice of cake.
J Edward Khrist
Hearing her very Sophia James respond, his eyes narrowed. "I just really think you need more cake." He offered her as that was what he thought on it.
Sophia James
Looking across the table to him as he sat there before their daughter, steadily providing her with the no doubt sugary content that would make the rest of the day quite interesting, she’d offer a soft nod of her head, a small smile to her features. “Okay, maybe just one more,” she agreed, rising from her seat to help herself as to avoid the screams of Princess James who would certainly throw herself a royal fit if her dealer stopped providing.
