The whine faded into hollow air, a dusty, gritty scraping shuffle that drew back from the door like a weak retreat.-- no more an arms length from the other side.
" ... ᴮ~ᴼʰ ᴳᵒᵈ...ᵀʰᵉʸ ᵗᵒᵒᵏ ᵐʸ ᶠⁱⁿᵍᵉʳˢ ...!"
B cant help it. He rips the door open.
“No- no! They didn't, babe.” How would anyone but Adam know about the missing fingers? He holds up his necklace. The bones glittering under the plastic casing of resin used to preserve them.
“I got them right here, see?”

The other's touch has a foreign desperation in sliding up his back, pressing into him as though he's searching something out with his fingers. The starving caress is lost on him, he’s clutching to his friend’s shirt like a frightened child and a part of him feels ignorant, vulnerable and lost. He feels robbed of maturity and confidence, infantile like a kinder gardener in a world too big to think of him.
But, he’s not a child. He hasn’t been for a long time.
He just doesn’t know that yet.
There’s a profound dread creeping in like a black nebula in the distance, he’s already asked himself what last recollection he can summon up, and now there is nothing but putting the pieces together. Devastated and ashamed, he knows he may be the cause of his own tragic circumstance...
He cleaves more tightly, riding out a stab of phantom pain - the years that have brought his friend scars and age are utterly missing from memory. And, it is terrifying.
There’s a creaking squeak as he is guided onto the bed. Is he really so impotent that B puts him to bed -- like a child?
There is a question on his tongue that dismisses any indignation and keeps him clinging to his friend without embarrassment. But, he is afraid to know the answer, he cannot unknow it once he has it.
“... Will I remember this in the morning?”
He knows that the answer is irreverent - Saddled with an amnesiac adult, the best answer is the one that quietly pacifies - Yes. The other does nothing but create temporary but wasted distress. Whether he will or he won’t, he cannot change what the next day will bring. Still, he can’t help reaching for comfort when everything feels uncertain.
