Spangle
There are those can be heard to scoff
To see a bead
a sequin
A rhinestone
Among the work-a-day buttons,
Bustling, busy about their buff and beige business
Who would sweep these
Unexpected trifles
Impatiently aside.
But
think now of the weary eye
That, blurred and hurried, catches
The gleam
The sparkle
The glistening flick of light.
And see how
with that glimmer
That same eye
catches, as it races by,
A wisp of unexpected joy.
It is,
I think,
For this eye
This light
This joy
That we shine.
