Every now and then I try a lil’ thingy thing, and I’ve set the queue up to try a thingy thing to be pink aesthetics for this weekend + the observances that come up.
Those observances being Galentines Day, Valentines Day, and Stallintines Day + Amber Riley’s Birthday. This is not a house of romance, as I lean heavily into the aro, but I will sprinkle in a little bit for the girls because I know that a lot of y’all are romantics. Auntie Nesha stans Megan and has always stanned Amber, and I think in the future, if this doesn’t turn out to be a huge headache or a lot of work, I’ll likely rope in the days altogether. We’ll see. March is for Minors wasn’t very big, but I also was an outsider TRYING to do that.
Hey! Okay... So. I have decided that this year will be the last year that I do the February tradition of Galentines x Valentines x Stallintines day known as the "BFCD Pinkend" which I also tacked on an October version for Pink Ribbon times too.
BFCD's The Last Pinkend (2025) will be the last February that I dedicate three days of pink passion posting in the middle of Black History Month.
Thing is, I will always love a pink excuse. But, throughout the year, I often will see a pink post and wonder "Do I post this now or save it for a Pinkend? Do I do a "On Wednesdays we wear pink" situation? Do I put this is a "Pinkoween" or "Pink Christmas" situation? Do I steal a "Pink Friday" from that woman and make it a fun time again for the homies? And I think after this year, my answer will be "Yes."
Much like I commit to having a monthly BFCD B&W Day to showcase Black women in black and white art and photographs I've come across on Tumblr, having Mondays for Minors, to try to give back a little bit to the Black girls (who very well may never even be at Tumblr) because its so unsafe for them and has so little representation, and this year, extending the celebration of the dark skinned women who reflect the more underappreciated hues of my family and friends in this antiblack ass country that our ancestors were dragged to, from a yearly Dark Skin December, to include also now Dark Skin Days...
I am going to go into the next year with BFCD Pink Days.
The blog colors have always been pink, brown, and yellow, and I will always have pink days, as long as I'm active. They won't be as planned out as the Pinkend, since that was a certain block of days each year and with these BFCD appreciation days, I tend to simply plot them out on days that aren't generally reserved for other holidays and observances that BFCD would be acknowledging (or on days that are observed for things that BFCD will NOT observe), but, every month that I am not being crushed by oppression to the point of immobility, as long as Auntie Nesha is active on blackfemmecharacterdependency.tumblr.com, each month there will be the appreciation days listed here and the ones that I regularly do when I'm not dying of life.
This February will be the last annual Pinkend, but come next year, pink lovers will have a monthly Pink Day instead, which will bear the tag of "BFCD Pink Days."
The reason I say next year and am not committing to trying to finish out this year with it is because I am still spending time tryna do real life things and the world is on fire. But, I did wanna put it out there what my upcoming intentions are for an established BFCD tradition now transitioning.
I have posted this as a reblog before, but decided to make it its own post.
