❝A true display of oceanic splendor--even the mistake looked as though it was planned. Unfortunately I will have to take points for that, but otherwise your Appeal could have placed in a Grand Festival. Whereas most Coordinators wish to show the ocean’s beauty, you clearly have not forgotten that the ocean is a place of sinister ferocity as well. And the Muk dragging itself back onstage like that--I liked that touch of the macabre in the finish. Well done!❞

❝Being able to show that you know how to recover from a mistake, shows that you’re able to work with the unexpected. And the fact your Pokemon was able to react to it without question, proves it was able to trust in you as well. You did a great job showing off just how different one can display a water’s type talent without taking the beauty route.❞
----8.3 / 10.0
❝Oooh, I love a good slip-up. But I love a good recovery even better. Don’t worry newbie, we liked your appeal anyway.❞

❝You did it. You took charge of your destiny. Raw power and confidence were center-stage in this retelling of Rayquaza’s destruction of the meteor--I may be wrong, but it shows the pride you have in your heritage. While Tyrantrum and other Rock-types are used quite often in mainstream Coordinating to represent ‘ancient times,’ I very much enjoyed the way you contrasted him with your Altaria. Well-made.❞
----8.2 / 10.0
❝A very impressive retelling of your story for Rayquaza. You displayed both of your Pokemon’s powers well and these two are an uncommon match up. lt’s very easy to tell you three have practice hard to work in sync.❞

❝You know who she reminds me of? That girl who always did the flashy tricks with her Pokémon--Jezziwhatever. Like you know there’s too much of her in there but you let it slide because it’s cool.❞

❝Ah, another musician like myself--what’s not there to love? Clearly you are skilled at the violin--you would do quite well playing in a Showcase. Petal Dance and Will-O-Wisp is a rather simplistic combination, but the technique was well-executed and your Lilligant is quite bold to dance in the fire like that. A solid Appeal.❞
----7.2 / 10.0
❝The way your Lampent was able to show its control over its fire with Will-O-Wisp shows great precious as in your timing for them to burn almost at the tempo of your music choice. But like Daniel said, Petal Dance accompanied with Will-O-Wisp is a common thing, though it was still lovely even for a first timer. ❞
----8.2 / 10.0
❝That had to be the gentlest Will-O-Wisp I’ve ever seen. Well controlled, uniquely used, I loved seeing Petal Dance on fire. Your Pokémon showed us a control and simple beauty today and ya oughta be proud of that.❞

❝My God. What can I say. It’s magnificent. A distinctly Wagnerian feel--no, this puts Wagner to shame. The dialogue was sublimely dramatic and your Appeal was a true gesamtkunstwerk. Hail to the champion of Draconium!❞

❝Very interesting appeal. You allowed Dragonite to show off its beauty but also found how to display Gyrados’s destructive force in a memorable way. Very nice work in showing there’s beauty behind every destruction.❞

❝Well I gotta say if I ever need to hire someone to do a book recording I know where to look. On the plus side, I saw two powerhouse pokémon, and they gave a powerhouse performance to match. So I’ll let him slide a little on the commentary.❞

❝I see you went for a classic here--a lion tamer setting up an obstacle course for his beast. A rather predictable theme for a Pyroar, I must say; it was executed with extreme precision, which shows a lot of potential, but technical perfection does not an artist make. You could have done more with Simisear than make him set up the obstacle course--this is a double performance, after all--but more importantly, you could have done more with the power and allure of the Fire type than simply setting things ablaze. ❞
----6.3 / 10.0
❝I’ll admit, it was a bit repetitive with the multiple Rock Tombs, but you did work to show us your Pokemon's speed as well as its powers, displaying both of your Pyroar’s talents well. However, with doubles we have to remember we’re showing off two Pokemon and Simisear only displayed as much as setting up the field for us. I would have loved to see what he could do as well.❞
----7.3 / 10.0
❝I almost fell asleep after all those Rock Tombs. Thank the gods he picked it up on the second half or we woulda had to take a commercial break just to wipe my face off the table.❞

❝I really felt like you had something going here with your Meowsitc and Galvantula, both of them showing great control with their attacks and timing. But I felt we could have saw more from your Galvantula minus just a few sparks of her electric attacks. The sparkles were pretty nonetheless.❞

❝You made one of many sculptures during this competition, but added a nice touch--it’s not just a sculpture, but a home, which begs the question: why did you not leave it standing? It was beautiful while it lasted, though, especially with the way the Aqua Ring reflected off the ice. Keep in mind also that your speech is as much as part of the performance as the action; some of the lengthy commands, I find, took away from the grandeur of the spectacle and you were rehearsed enough not to have used them--although, the Kalosian phrases certainly were a nice touch.❞
----7.2 / 10.0
❝I’m going to be honest. At one point I felt like I was watching a Showcase instead of a contest. Sculptures or a common thing used to display ice types so I was wondering what you’d do with it, and using Aqua Ring to reflect off it was nicely done though to just go and destroy it in the end seems a bit...well to waste the effort? I’ll admit the ending was beautiful, but I felt like it could have been accomplished differently. ❞

❝I have to say, your Appeal was rather simplistic. But you did a wonderfully precise job creating your Christmas tree, and you were impeccably rehearsed. Well done with no verbal commands--an ARTSOC member like myself always enjoys such a show, where you display such trust between your Pokémon.❞
----7.0 / 10.0
❝My only concern with this -- besides it being another sculpture -- is that we didn’t get much emphasis on Starmie in your appeal like we did with Weavile. Sure, we saw it helping it reach its heights, but otherwise Starmie only displayed its Hydro Pump to us. Again, doubles are to display both Pokemon’s talents. Still, it’s a pretty nice sculpture.❞
----7.1 / 10.0
❝I gotta ignore the fact that ‘Christmas in July’ has been totally overused, cause that was one of the better ice performances I’ve seen tonight. They got their point across and they didn’t try to overdo it. Now point me to the nearest sale so I can get some goodies.❞

@onmyo ❴Hiro❵ ✦ appeal link ✦ 73
❝What a sweet love story between your Weavile and your Froslass! Unfortunately I felt as though the verbal cues got in the way--a true tale of romance is not dictated by any outside force. The rejection, however, was overdone in its harshness; most lovers’ interactions onstage are not so violent. If you wish to explore this theme further, look to Shakespeare and opera for the gestures and expressions used in classical expressions of romance.❞
----7.6 / 10.0
❝It’s easy to see you were going more so on the story realm with your performance and giving us a romance theme. As much as it did a great job displaying all of your Pokemon’s moves, I felt we could have taken things a bit further in displaying their talents more. In some cases, it almost was similar to a battle. ❞

❝Très magnifique! Your depiction of the Ultimate Weapon and its destruction was truly a chilling and beautiful sight. At least, that’s what I think you were aiming for; it’s hard to see anything else in a flower when you’re a lover of history like myself! Your dialogue was spot-on, and you don’t find me saying this often but perhaps you needed more of it--not commands, because clearly you didn’t need them, but rhetorical flourishes. Your own participation in the Appeal was strikingly bold, and the destruction of the flower was absolutely priceless. You might have a great future in Coordinating if you saw the same beauty in others.❞
----9.0 / 10.0
❝Though another ice sculpture, you took me by a bit of surprise to take your stance inside of the middle of the performance. Plus, having it to give off a glow with Dazzling Gleam to allow everyone to marvel in its beauty from the light and the sculpture itself was smart. You even worked to control it’s destructive power with the help of Swanna. My only suggestion would be that it would have been nice to hear you give both of our Pokemon some commands -- just to display your part a bit more in showing them off as well.❞
----9.2 / 10.0

❝Are you sure you weren’t a Coordinator already? You certainly perform like one--your creativity and confidence clearly shine through, and your execution was nothing short of superb. I should ask whether you are a dancer as well, because you certainly have a dancer’s eyes and eras for how music and movement flow together. However, the circular movements and Discharge patterns seemed rather repetitive to me. Instead of starting and finishing with the same movements and move patterns, I encourage you to try something different at the end.❞

❝The combination of fire and electricity is one that I enjoy playing around it as it isn’t commonly seen because of its power. Though you definitely did a great job in rehersing and figuring out how to make both of them work well together. There were a couple of times I felt as I was watching one of Kalos’s showcases when you danced among the attacks so I would say if you haven’t, you should give them a try. But overall, a very beautiful performance.❞
----9.0 / 10.0
❝Fire and electricity. Now there’s a combination I haven’t seen in a while. And ya know why? Cause it’s hard to control. I gotta back up Danny’s question, I dunno why I haven’t seen you on a stage yet. Come back an’ impress me any time.❞

❝I’ve seen a lot of Psychic moves used to create illusions, but what power and precision in the way the Bell Tower fell--truly, it was my favorite part of your Appeal. I also admire the way you let the Hyper Beam’s energy flow out; few people are bold enough to let a powerful move carry into the audience like that, which further goes to show your faith in your Pokémon and their control. The device at the end confused me--was it some sort of camera?--but I do like the idea of ending with a flash. Good work.❞
----7.4 / 10.0
❝Gotta admit, the recreation of the Bell Tower was completely stunning to see as it matched up pretty well from what I can recall from some pictures. And knowing how to work with the power of Hyper Beam with your Pokemon is definitely a plus, but I failed to see the reasoning to rely on Mega Evolution in this. You didn’t really try and emphasis its importance minus relying on its power which in a sense, is something that comes with any Mega Evolution.❞
----7.2 / 10.0
❝Well ya gotta admit, whether you were totally dazzled or bored to tears, that Xatu is pretty damn talented. And replicating the bell tower like that was a pretty impressive way to show it off. I wouldn’t write home about it, but I gotta give them points for being original.❞

❝Bravissimo--you really let the Rock-type shine, so to speak, with the versatility of your moves! I can see why people call you a rock maniac, the way you beautified them with light and the power of the elements (although you could have shown them off in ways other than making them shine). Your dialogue, however, left much to be desired. You need not have told us how truly awe-inspiring and legendary Rock-types are, because your performance should do that by itself.❞
----7.8 / 10.0
❝A phenomenal display and you went out of your way to display your Pokemon’s talents outside of just using rock type moves. However, contests are more for showing, note telling and you could have done a less job of reminding us. Cues and commands are always good to have, but the more you display than say the better.❞
----8.4 / 10.0
❝Alright. Ya got me. Those were the prettiest damn rocks I’ve ever seen. I gotta say, I wish he’da kept his mouth shut more though. I get that ya wanna tell the world how great your Pokémon are, but the point of the appeal is to show, not tell. And ya coulda done it just fine.❞

❝Effortlessly precise, flawlessly executed; I would expect no less from a ninja. Well done with the shattering display of strength from both, seeing as most people don’t see Tentacruel or Crobat as particularly brawny or tough. Not to mention walking on your Tentacruel’s outstretched tentacles was to die for, as well as the way you leaped off the ice just before it was frozen; clearly you are as well-versed in your craft as your Pokémon. And your music was so engaging--I don’t think I’ve ever heard a flute played that way before. When’s your next Contest?❞
----9.3 / 10.0
❝For a moment, I thought you were going the Showcase route as well as you entered your Pokemon’s moves, but you proved me wrong. You took an entirely different approach on the water and ice combination, but still displayed Tentacruel’s Poison typing wonderfully. Even more, you were able to show your precision with timing thanks to your Crobat. I’ll admit, it would have been nice to hear you say a little to your Pokemon, but you were able to display the bond you three have with each other without speaking so I can look pass it somewhat.❞

❝Ah, I always love an Appeal that tells a story! Well-played and well-acted--although the Milotic’s Scalds were not entirely convincing sometimes, seeing as it was fairly obvious you were trying to miss the target. In addition, I would suggest you show off more of your Pokémon’s moves than Scald and Haze--I know they had much more to offer in that regard, and I encourage you to put it on display in the future. ❞
----7.7/ 10.0
❝A performance with a story is always something different. However, it would have been nice if you could have displayed your Pokemon’s talents a little more. We mostly got numerous Scalds out of Milotic and I’m sure its capable of many other moves though you did give us an Aqua Ring in the end. The same could have been said for Altaria. But, your style is for storying telling so I’m sure in time it will improve as well.❞
----7.8 / 10.0
❝I feel like I just watched a TV show for kids called ‘Hilda and the Nite Nite Tales’. It was well done and all, but I could’ve done with less of her in it. Alteria and Milotic totally could’ve rocked that tail without her literally riding on their coattails. But hey, it was well put together, right? Somethin’ somethin’ that’s what this is all about.❞
