This is from my WIP fluff(?) about Chadd (he is Gasper's canonical work partner) trying to cheer up his friend Gasper, who, after personal training with Lord Gortash, actually began to work better, but for some reason also became more nervous and much less cheerful.
The halfling opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, like a fish out of water, clearly wanting to protest. But after another glance at the half-orc towering over him like a mountain, he changed his mind and bit his tongue.
"Isn't there really no other way to resolve this?" he stammered, forcing himself to hide his indignation behind a mask of remorse.
"It's obvious you've stumbled for the first time; you're clearly not a hardened criminal."
The halfling nodded enthusiastically.
"I think a fine will do this time."
"Yes, yes, I absolutely agree," the short man babbled with relief, reaching for the pouch on his belt. "How much do I owe? I'm not the richest man, but I'm sure—"
Suddenly, a bright pink cardboard box with the inscription "Game night coupons" caught Chadd's eye among the pile of other trinkets.
"Hmm... I guess we'll settle this with a little confiscation," Chadd said, bending down and picking up the box.
He turned it over, and on the back it said it contained "the perfect game for couples who want to add a little extra fun and excitement to their relationship." Just what he needed! His relationship with Gasper had been missing some fun and excitement lately. It was as if the Black Hand itself had nudged the halfling into helping Chadd solve his problem with his friend!
