I want to take the internship in my 3rd year and I'm in the Bcom HRM? When I checked the site I see an HRM option but it mentions BHRM, will I still be able to take an internship if i'm in Bcom HRM instead of BHRM? Also, for the grade requirements it mentions a GPA of 6.0 or higher in HRM, is this OCGPA or GPA in the major?

Seems like BCom is a different degree than BHRM, however I also know that BCom is quite a recent development at York. So, the best thing to do is contact the internship program and ask them if BCom would suffice for the internship.

The website is pretty vague regarding the GPA requirement, I want to say that it’s only talking about major GPA, but I can’t say for sure.

im a second year sociology student at mcmcaster hoping to transfer to transfer to york for your human resources program what are the requiements. I have one 4u math from highschool

The requirements are as follows:

BHRM Requirements for Admission:

- Completion of at least four full-year courses or one year of full-time degree studies at an accredited university

- Overall average of 2.3 or better on a 4-point scale (or equivalent)

- 4U math

I have checked through many pages of the academic warning pages of the tag to get a sense of the idea already. I am terribly afraid and confused! Currently I am a 1st year in the BHRM honours program and it says for both bachelors and honours the minimum GPA is 5.0; my friend helped calculate what my potential GPA might be which is around 3.8-4.5 for 30 credits?! What will happen to me and what should I do... do I get to stay in BHRM? Does progressive honours (4.25) not apply to BHRM? Help!

Requirements for each major/degree can be different, and BHRM is one of those programs/degrees. So, no Honours progression requirements do not apply here.

Continuing Honours BHRM students.

Students who have completed less than 90 passed credits and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 5.00 may proceed in good standing in the Honours BHRM degree. Students who have completed 90 passed credits with a cumulative and major average of 5.00 and have less than 120 passed credits may proceed in Honours.

If you fail to maintain a 5.0 GPA then you will be placed on program warning:

Failure to maintain minimum Honours BHRM standing (advising recommended). Students who have completed less than 90 passed credits whose cumulative grade point average is below 5.00 will be placed on “program warning” and may continue in the 90 credit BHRM degree only. I'm currently in gr12 and im taking data management. I didn't take advance functions and I was planning on going into business. Are there any courses or programs that i can get into (like human resources) w/out advanced functions. Or am i screwed??

For BAS you need MHF4U (Advanced Functions), but for BHRM you only need a 4U Math so Data Management would be fine.

I have a couple questions: I was original in BHRM and wanted to switch to BAS ITEC but got discouraged. Then I wanted to do BAS Management with a minor in IT but the academic advisor said that wasn’t possible. So since I am already taking BAS courses I do not want to stay in BHRM as the other courses will be waste so i was thinking BAS in HR. Is this a better idea as it is more general and I have yet to make up my mind.

Also, this OSAP application didnt ask how many credits I will take but I am assuming I said 30 somewhere so if I take 27 in fall/winter and then 3 in summer, will it affect my OSAP? Thank you!

Hi anon! I might be in BAS, but I’m in accounting and I have no knowledge of the difference in BAS HR and BHRM. I believe BHRM is certified by the board for HR, but I’m not certain if BAS HR isn’t or if it actually is certified or not. Your best bet would be to compare the academic calendars of both and see what requirements differ. You can try visiting advising at Atkinson and asking them.

As for your OSAP question, I don’t take OSAP but I’ll ask one of the other admins to add on :)

OSAP generally asks what percentage of a full course load you are taking, it should be indicated somewhere on your application so you can go and check that. 

If you reduce your fall/winter course load from 30 to 27 for fall/winter, you HAVE to submit a change request since summer OSAP is applied for separately.

Hi I'm currently pursuing a BA with honours in English (I'm in 2nd year) and I was curious if I were to change my major to Human resource management and instead minor in English would there be much of a change to my degree currently? I know obviously I have to make up for any courses I need to take in order to change my major but I was curious if there's just anything that will change other than my degree and course load if I decide to change my degree.

No not really, you’ll just need to follow the 2015/2016 academic calendar that’s all.

Hi I'm the first year bhrm student, thanks for your answer! I had another quick question! In the honours bhrm degree requirements, where it says "Credits outside the major and ADMS: at least 18 credits including HH/PSYC 1010 6.00, AP/SOCI 1010 6.00." As it is not separated by a semi colon, does this mean both are necessary? And is it alright if I take my 6 credit NATS first year level course next year? Thank you so much!

Yes that means you have to do both PSYC 1010 and SOCI 1010, which will bring you to 12 credits, and then you can do the remaining 6 credits in whatever you like. Yes that’s completely fine.
