thoughts on matt murdock, king of dramatic irony

so im rewatching daredevil, and i am in love with the somewhat subtle and somewhat in your face parallels between the story of matt murdock and lucifer in enochian myth (or biblical myth, if you prefer) because they arent trying to hide the parallels because even matt is like “oh shit im the new york version of a falling angel but the only thing im falling off of is new york brownstones.” its integral to his arch that he understands those parallels bc of his personal history, which is steeped in religion, and the fact that he understands himself based on his relationship with his religion. its also just like a quintessential vigilante story that understands where it is, what it is, and what it is not. matt isnt a superhero, hes just a lawyer who is fucking tired of the wrong people being punished by the legal system.

also a catholic guy having the streetname “daredevil” and “the devil of hells kitchen”? the height of dramatic irony.
