The Movie Wicked
It's just a movie, you say. It's influential and impressionable to kids.
Isaiah 5:20New King James Version
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Wicked comes from the word wicker, as in a wicker chair. It's twisted, and this story is definitely that.
The author of Wicked for Good restructured the narrative by softening its core message. One method of softening the storyline involves introducing mistreated animals, which makes her cause seem noble. While it's true that her desire to save them is commendable, it's all about the presentation. Incorporating a positive aspect into the story of a witch who was portrayed negatively in the original film does not redeem the first witch. Are we aware that spells are being cast? Wands are being directed. Galinda shares half-truths to create a facade of someone she isn't and is rather delusional. This character is more extreme than in The Wizard of Oz.
Whoa unto them that say evil is good and good is evil. The wizard even lies and tries to rewrite history as he quotes "the truth is not a fact or reason just what everyone agrees on" and he calls it history. Truly this is mixing lies with how some historians choose to write history.
This is influencing our children, how they see things, what choices they make . It opens one up to condone evil and when those things come to exposure to this earth everybody who has been made open will naturally accept that which is not holy. Elphaba's sister calls OZ God during a talk with Boq the man who was there for her, in the original he was a wizard not divine.
This is Satan deceiving; his modus operandi.
Glenda the good witch is displayed as selfish and self-seeking and will lie to maintain a fascade to fulfill her own desires in this role reversal.
The movie screams good is not really good and evil is more powerful than good.
Using animals to soften the dynamic, adding a WHY she acted wicked. I could also add that they focus on animals talking and not being able to anymore. It's said animals always talked before Adam fell in the Bible. Its connected to the serpent, allowing satan to speak through it to Eve in the garden of Eden.
Ancient symbols get softened and reintroduced. It's called cultural repackaging. Stories can carry symbolism that people don’t consciously recognize.
