The Thompson Mfg Co, Bicycle manufacturers, of Waterville, have recently added some new machinery to their plant. They are continually rushed to overtake the work coming to them.

Which is better, 4 wheels or 2? We think it’s the first, even though there is nothing wrong with a nice, relaxing bike ride. But Skoda thinks you should have both, and after its official partnership with the Tour de France, has just launched a series of no less than 14 bikes available though dealers.

We are willing to be bet that the million or more people who buy a Skoda this year, at least 10% as a pedal. So it’s not surprising that the range is so wide. Additions to the bike collection this year include two new mountain bikes and the “Lady” mountain bike, specially designed for women.

But the coolest bike Skoda offers is the “Ruta de Elite”, which is made of carbon, Shimano Ultegra components incorporates and weighs only 7.9 kg (15.4 lbs). There is also a less expensive model “Road”, with aluminum frame and a carbon fork that is also extremely lightweight at 8.5 kg (18.7 lbs).

Of the 14 bikes Skoda offers a total of 7 of them are now mountain bikes. The top model is the “Elite MTB 29″ with 29-inch wheels, carbon frame and Shimano XT and SLX components, weighing 11.7 kg (25.7 lbs). New to the program is a model with Elite MTB 27 small 27-inch wheels and a version two aluminum frames called the ad MTB MTB 29 + 27 +.

Finally, there is the piece de resistance, the electric bicycle Skoda Green E Line. It weighs 47.7 lbs 21.7 kg) and works as a ‘pedelec “(Pedal Electric Cycle). When the pedal is pressed, the electric motor provides 35, 75, 150 and 300% more power, depending on the configuration. The BionX electric motor is mounted on the hub of the rear wheel and the battery, which weighs 2.6 kg, is attached to the frame, providing up to 105 km range.
