April 2011-April 2012 was the TOUGHEST time of my life. I naively took up the sports of running, cycling and swimming to compete in marathons, century rides and triathlons so that I could raise awareness and funds for various cancer non-profit organizations in honor of the three family members I lost to cancer that horrible year and as a promise to fulfill Sissy’s last wish. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, all the various running and cycling shops swooped me up under their wings. Henry Roberts quickly became a huge supporter, mentor, boss and friend. He cried with me on the loss of John Zess, special ordered orange tires for my bike, worked closely with me on the promotion of bicycle safety on television ads and social media, sponsored me on my crazy adventures and shared endless conversations always making me feel like I was the most important person in the world. I know I am not the only one who was deeply saddened with the loss of this great man, founder of @bicycleworldrgv and local inspiration. My dear friend and mentor, you will be so missed. You made me stretch my body and mind and I know you will continue to have me under your wings. God bless you and all who love you and are mourning your loss. #bicycleworld #cyclinglife #mentor https://www.instagram.com/p/BvKcYQIBOJh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=b94fy8safff1
