After forcing Mr. McMahon into giving him a title match by threatening Shane McMahon, Mankind (with D-Generation X (Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg, Triple H and X-Pac)) faced The Rock (with The Corporation (Big Bossman, Kane, Ken Shamrock and Test)) for the WWE Championship in the main event. In the end, as D-X and The Corporation brawled, Stone Cold Steve Austin attacked The Rock with a steel chair, allowing Mankind to pin The Rock and win the WWE Championship for the first time.
