#big life changes

Hey, all! You might remember a few weeks ago I talked about a big happy change in my life and hinted that it had something to do with love. Well, the truth is that my greatest romantic dreams have become a grander reality!

I've been best friends with @feistierermine since we were in high school. I'm sure anyone that follows the both of us has figured there's at least some sort of connection between us since our blogs are practically joined at the hip! Recently, we've realized just how important we are to each other and after a very brave and very sweet confession from them my best friend is now my love and I couldn't be happier! 

We've both put a lot of our love into the relationships our OCs have with each other. Lulu, Bunzo, and Clare (and their ships, no one's getting broken up because of this!) are all very important to each other and us! We're planning on exploring those relationships as we collaborate over some ideas for the upcoming Lalapril event! We look forward to everyone enjoying what we come up with!

hello! checking in, i'll be super active soon ( dutton ranch airs in two weeks! ) but i started a new job a week-ish ago and they're sending me on a trip to china&south-korea next week so i'll be basically silent until i'm back literally the day after premier! in the meantime, i would love to get plotting down for beth so if anyone's interested, please poke me on discord ( blamereign ) so we have things to write when i get back x

So I’m about to close on the purchase of my first home.

It’s a big scary life thing. And all I can think about is how I need to put up a pink “hang painting here” sticky-note when I move in, and then work on recreating that painting. 🙃

It's the little things

I have a two hour lunch break today. TWO HOURS! During this time, I've been watching TikToks, listening to my dog snore next to me, and watching the snow flutter down as the space heater hums. There's no work I'm expected to do during this time. Nothing to print. No students coming to me with more work. No emails flooding my inbox with more tasks, adding to a to-do list that is a mile long and makes my head and gut hurt. Just six months ago my stress was keeping me awake. I thought quitting teaching was a mistake. It made my gut churn and quickened my breaths into panic attacks. When I thought I had things handled, it would all turn upside down and would have to start all over. Interview after interview after cover letter after resume after jobs that just didn't feel like a good fit. And now I'm here. It was all worth it. How often does that happen? I sleep soundly at night. I'm told I'm valued as an employee and believed in. I have time to take care of myself and my home. For the first time I've started to look towards the future.

I had been struggling so hard to keep my head above water, I hadn't noticed how much of my energy was being used just to survive.

I couldn't have done it without my partner, who encouraged me every step of the way, and my coworker who would sit with me at the end of the day and helped me to build up the courage to send my resignation letter.

It was the best decision I ever made.

Guinevere does a lot of chewing. She's 8 months old, well past teething. It's as cold as we ever get outside, the rest of us just want to curl up in the warmth and snooze, but Gwyn needs to chew.

I expected this, or at least thought it was probable. I saw some rather frantic chewing occasionally in foster dogs when they had a significant life change that was *good*.

Understand, Gwyn wasn't mistreated before. She had all her physical needs well met and daily affectionate handling. But her life now is very different. And even if she likes the change, change takes acclimation.

I'm doing my best to direct her to chew toys instead of stuffed toys or cloth (we've lost a couple of Tristan's toys, but ones that we won't miss),and she's getting pretty good about going for the permitted chewables. Occasionally she seems to desperately need to rip fabric. I have a holey old towel here for those times.

Based on the fosters who chewed, I expect this probably won't last more than 4 or 6 weeks, then probably she will not need to bite stuff every day, quite so much. Hopefully then we can safely get out the rest of Tristan's toys.

This is a good day!

Not only is it the Sherlolly ILY Anniversary, but today I got the amazing news that in approved for a new place to live. I'm moving this weekend!! The timing, the price, and the location are perfect, I'm going to save SO MUCH time and money every day! I'm so excited and nervous!

So I spent most of this week worrying about what I would tell my mother (who some of you know is not the most stable of humans) about moving away from here again. In spite of the fact that we haven’t spoken in three months. I did receive the wise words from a friend that I "don’t owe her anything" which was truly a big help. But I couldn’t be right with myself if I didn’t at least let her know I was planning to move 5000 miles away before I both 1) started posting on my social media about it 2) actually did it? So I sucked it up and sent a message.

Good news: no guilt laden explosions

Bad news: nothing like a half sentence of passive aggression in response to a lengthy careful and sensitive message toreally make your day?

But now I feel free to just get on with things. And also to begin the actual process of not letting her continue to be an active part of my life, and that —hurts, but also feels pretty good at the same time.
