“stranger things got too popular”

my take:

ST has always been mainstream but social media and society has generally been leaning more right recently and there’s been more comfortable casual homophobia as of recently, so while it’s always been popular, ST 100% reached the wrong audience online after s4. fandoms used to be a fun safe space for fans to ship and headcanon as they please and now people who’ve clearly never been on tumblr or ao3 are whining about fans for being obsessive and over analytical as if this isn’t regular fandom behaviour. as if these very fans aren’t the ones popularizing the show enough to keep it relevant and going. i didn’t love eddie as much as others because he wasn’t my vibe but i clearly understood he is part of the show’s agenda of being an outcast and atypical.

How going back to the real world feels after being on the tumblr. Genuinely doing work with my left arm behind my back pretending I'm Simon helping his husband around the house to entertain myself. Listening to the WASB playlist in the public lobby. Trying not to infodump to the people around me and outcast myself forever like Grace publishing his paper. Can't wait to draw them on my lunch break :3

“but that’s not what happened—” i don’t care. it could have. it should have. and more importantly, it does now, in my head, where the narrative is richer, the character motivations actually make sense, and people are allowed to feel things that the source material was too cowardly to explore.

you think i’m going to ignore subtext? chemistry? narrative potential? for what—continuity? PU-LEASE. i have already rewritten the timeline three times and given everyone better dialogue.

Dean Winchester notices you the second you get too quiet.

“Don’t start,” he says, not looking up from what he’s doing.

“I didn’t say anything,” you reply, leaning a little closer than necessary.

That earns you a glance. Quick. Sharp. Like he’s deciding whether you’re trouble or just bored.

“You’re thinkin’ loud,” he says.

“Am I?”

“Yeah,” he mutters. “And I don’t like what it sounds like.”

You smile. “Maybe you’d like it more if I said it out loud.”

That gets him to stop completely.

“…Careful,” Dean says, voice lower now. “You keep talkin’ like that, and I’m gonna start thinkin’ too.”

So, I started to get obsessed with those acrylic keychains with characters that you shake around-

But I'm poor, so I decided to make my own little Brainrot Shaker™ with a few characters I like, by using tictac boxes and paper. I decided I'll make a few generic backgrounds to go along with them, silly things like the beach, the aquarium, and a supermarket because sure why not-

It's a work in progress, but I just had a terrible week and this is weirdly making me feel better despite being a mess.

Heather's age

I calculated again (sorry not sorry):

Heather's age is never clearified, but the most common assumption is that she's slightly older than Hiccup (and the rest of the gang).

Dagur was a late teen when he became chief of the Beserkers, around 19. Hiccup was 15 at this point, so let's assume Dagur is 4 years older than Hiccup.

In Heathers flashback (Have Dragon Will Travel, Part2 (S3, ep.11), we saw Dagur running around in the background. Dagur seemed to be around six years old there (give or take). Heather was tall (and strong) enough to play with a viking shield. An average viking shield is 75 - 90 cm, so Heather should be around 1 meter to play with it. A child is typically around 1 meter tall when they are approximately 4 years old.

So we can assume that Heather is around two (or three) years younger than Dagur and with this one or two years older than Hiccup.

Edit: In his [Dagur] letter to Heater, he called Hiccup "our little brother" which also leads to assume, that Heather is older than Hiccup (s5, ep.11).
