Top ten Broadway musical Comercials
LAvish musical commercials are kind of a rarity nowadays ,and before the 70's you didnt see any,but in the 70's through the 90's Broadway musicals, commercials promoted Broadway musicals like one would a movie .Now I watched a LOT of these, and I might do a sperate list going over the ones that mainly were like "Check out the big actor we got "
The criteria I mainly went with is ,is how well does it make me want to watch this musical
10.Jekyll and Hyde:Kind of a guilty pleasure musical but this is a great commercial, horror, mellodrama, ton of fun
9.Grease-Full disclosure I hate this musical but this commercial is high cause of the execution of the idea of the guy adoring the musical and actually making it seem pretty fun
8.Big River -Im not familiar with this show but I like the decision to shoot it in a river setting ,show off some music and bonus points for young John Goodman
7.Pirates of Penzance -I was split over which Penzance commercial to pick but went with this cause of the editing ,staging and goofy humor
6.Phantom of the Opera -Showcases Crawfords unsettilingness ,the spookyness, the melodrama, the bombast ,all makes it look like a show worth seeing
5.Little Shop of Horrors-Off broadway commercial but eh I'll count it .This is my favorite musical so there is some bias but honestly this is a solid commercial selling the campy horror vibe of the play and showcasing doo-wop music that fills the show ,while only hinting at the monster at the center of the show ,enticing audince members to buy a ticket.Kudos
4.Evita -I am actually unfmaliar with this show but goshdarn this commercial is a vibe ,with gorgous music,an even more gorgous Mandy Patinkin and an intriguing premise
3.The Wiz:musics good, costumes impressive, castlooks delightful.and above all sells the magical fantasy vibes.and Toto jumping into the kids arms is a nice touch
2.Into the Woods -My second fave musical but just as a commercial its well done.Magic, fairy tale characters, humor, this makes me wanna watch this show right now
1.SWeeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.OK this is the best commercial.Len Cariou and Angela Lansbuarry killing folks and singing about it while in creepy costumes,a mix of horror and musical theater?Where can I get a ticket

A 1980's era photo of me and actor Sanada Hiroyuki. He's currently starring in Shogun. Back then he was playing Huck Finn in Big River.

I’m officially a TOP Boyd Holbrook listener globally on Spotify! ❤️
Spotify has wrapped year 2025 for me, the time I spent on Spotify this year listening to various songs and artists and here are the results, posted them right under those 3 gifs! 🥰
I’m a Number 1 Boyd Holbrook listener on Spotify in the world!
I love both of the songs, Big River and Folsom Prison Blues, and I tried to play/listen to them both equally! They had to pick just one of them so…But again, for me I think both of them have the same score (times played)!
Boyd is just such a talent and he portrayed Johnny Cash in A Complete Unknown to an absolute perfection! ❤️

Recently been working on a mural with my aunt for about a month now near the river. This is my second mural I’ve done and I’m very thankful to be working with her. Also, it’s nice meeting people who care about their town and communities. Where I live I feel as if that tradition is long gone, but I may be wrong. Slowly I’ve seen my town gentrified & bought by billionaire petroleum/chemical companies not even from America. We still both feel the effects of Cancer Alley & rapid change day to day on the communities here before it was dubbed Cancer Alley.
Big River, Johnny Cash, 1962
figured since i have to walk across, may as well take photos
