self absorbed behavior

Why is it that when something bad happens my parents automatically have to talk about themselves. Since none of you know them they are the most self-absorbed and big-headed people i have ever met. Since i was a kid they always talked about their own feelings and never put me before them.

Like when my grandma just found out she has lung cancer several weeks ago. right at that point my dad made it seem like he was the one suffering. while i was forced to pick them both up and get going with what needs to be done. While my dad goes to the beach every sunday to "feel better" and lose stress i stay around with my dying grandma. thanks, dad! you are the best person ever! esspecially when he talks about how selfish i am for not cleaning the dishes...woops SORRY i have to clean up after you and all 5 meals YOU eat for YOUR fitness plan! this is what im talking about and im not just talking about this selfish behavior socially i think it stems to other things for instance politics.. what can the government do for me is a common idea people have in their minds when we should be thinking what is the government going to do for everyone. thats my point if people were a little less selfish the world would be a better place.
