CENERGY IS AT THE HEART OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL WITH THE BIG EAST

CENERGY has launched a new marketing campaign for the BIG EAST Conference to support ticket sales to the 2015 BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament. The campaign, which includes digital and out-of-home advertising, social media and SEO was designed to generate awareness of, and spur ticket sales to, the tournament – set to take over New York City at Madison Square Garden in March.

To properly support sales goals, it was important to make a connection with native New Yorkers, college basketball fans, and the BIG EAST student body and alumni. CENERGY’s response was a digital and print campaign built around the tagline, “Make it Here.” The campaign was created to pay homage to the idea of success in New York City and the reputation of Madison Square Garden as the Mecca of college basketball.

“When you think of the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament, you immediately think of Madison Square Garden and New York City. The ‘Make it Here’ campaign brings together the spirit of the BIG EAST, the personality of New York and the action on the court to create a tone designed to appeal to New Yorkers, college basketball fans and everyone who appreciates the quest to be the best,” said Ann Crandall, Chief Marketing Officer of the BIG EAST.

“The BIG EAST style of play shares many crossover characteristics with its Tournament’s hometown, New York City, also known for its grit, quick pace, and resilience,” said John Cimperman, Principal of Cenergy. “The ‘Make It Here’ campaign visually links the two in dynamic displays that commemorate the individual characteristics of each, while celebrating the power of the BIG EAST/New York City partnership.”

Elements for the “Make It Here” campaign can currently be seen on New York City subways, billboards, commuter rail and taxicab advertising. The conference’s member schools and Madison Square Garden will also support the effort in arena as well as via their social media platforms.
