So I've been thinking. If Mara Jade was canon and Luke had kids in canon.
I would have him and Mara have twins. Biggs and Beru Skywalker
Biggs played by Sebastian Stan or Dylan O'Brien and Beru obviously being Rey.
Storywise. Biggs and Beru survives the Jedi Massacre. Rey's mind is walled off and loses her memories by Mara and takes her to a place where Snoke and Ben will never find her.
Biggs meanwhile goes to different force based worlds to find a way to stop Snoke and decide if he must save his cousin or kill him. But he discovers a most terrifying secret. Palpatine has survived.
Eventually he links up with his mother who disguised herself as Zorri Bliss(played by Sigourney Weaver) and they reunite with Rey. Mara undoes the memory block and Rey remembers everything.
Beru goes to Ach-To to talk to Luke.
“The force is strong in my family. My father had it, I have it, my sister has it, my son has it and my daughter has it. You have that power too!” “You were never meant to be left on Jakku…I thought you both died the night in the academy, along with your mother. But her last words to me confirmed you survived.” “All those years. I was so alone.” “I know. I’m sorry.” “Did you ever try to find me?” “Of course. For so long I searched the galaxy for you. Everyone said that you had died that night in the temple, that I should give up searching. But through the force, I could still feel you. I knew you were still alive." "But why did you try to send me away from her and refuse to help? "That night when I read Ben's mind. I didn't just see his own darkness. I saw. HIM! Palpatine. I lost hope, I wanted to try and stop you from trying to save your cousin in vain and save you from the Emperor. You were not ready. But you are now. Our family is reunited and 1000 generations of Jedi live through you two now. This is your fight.
After the talk with Luke. Beru wields her own Yellow Lightsaber, while Biggs wields Luke's Green Lightsaber and Finn wields Leia's Lightsaber(take Jedi Finn from my cold dead hands)
The change I'd make is Kylo kills Palpatine, Palpatine possesses Kylo Ren and the final fight takes place on Fortress Vader while the final fight takes place in orbit of Coruscant.
Beru and Biggs fights Sidiousren and Finn leads a Stormtrooper Rebellion and Poe leads the United Fleet of the Resistance and the New Republic forces against Hux's fleet(fuck that "I'm the spy" nonsense I'd just make Pryde the spy)
Near the end of the fight, Rey and Finn mortally wounds Kylo Ren, thus forcing Palpatine to leave his dying body. Palpatine prepares to take Beru’s body, but in his final moments Ben Solo returns and takes Palpatine's life force and sacrifices himself to save Rey and Biggs. He asks Rey and Biggs to kill him. In his final moments he sees the force ghosts of his mother and uncle and tells Luke and Leia that he’s sorry for everything. Rey and Finn kills Palpatine and Ben with him while Ben achieves redemption.
Movie ends with Lando being declared as Chancellor of the New Republic. The once child soldiers of The First Order become the civilians and soldiers of this New Republic. A ceremony where Rey, Finn, Poe, Biggs, Rose and Jannah are crowned as heroes of the Republic. Beru and Biggs builds a New Order on Ach-To Finn and Jannah being the first Padawan of the new Jedi Order. A wedding between Rey and Finn and a tease of Rey and Finn as the New Jedi that rises, the Skywalkers.
