The traditional barn color red began by accident more than choice. A couple hundred years ago, farmers would mix their own paints. Linseed oils, milk, lime, and rust (which was plentiful on the farm and killed the fungi and moss) were mixed to create a sealer for the barns wood sides. The natural color of the linseed and rust created a reddish color. As manufactured paints became available, it became a natural choice for farmers to use. #agriculture #minnesota #farm #farmers #jameyguyphoto #red #casetractor #bigredbarn #portraitphotographer #corn #case #overalls
