I follow you because we share some interested and you disagree with me politically. I think it's a good idea to consider your opinion. So why do you hate 3rd-party voters so much? The majority of them were for Johnson, and he was taking votes away from Trump if anything. The election's outcome wouldn't have changed if Evan McMullin had dropped out. They didn't lose the election for you, and yet everyone is still pissed?
Because, if those 3rd party voters had voted for a main ticket party, it could have changed everything.
A lot of people who lean left voted 3rd party/wrote in votes, and in many states if you look at the percentage who voted 3rd party, if they’d voted Hillary she would have won. Many of these people were still bitter about Bernie not getting the nomination and just not voting for Hillary out of spite, even though they didn’t even bother to caucus for Bernie (I DID YOU FUCKS AND IF MORE OF YOU HAD GOTTEN OFF YOUR ASSES WE MIGHT NOT BE HERE).
So no. Johnson was not taking votes away from Trump. He was taking them away from Hillary. And let’s be honest, you knew perfectly damn well that Johnson wasn’t going to win. He was never even going to get close. A vote for him was, literally, wasted. But you still voted Johnson out of some sort of stupid moral purity/misguided hatred of Hillary that was largely driven by the smear campaign that the GOP has been running on her for the last 20 years, and in so doing have fucked over a huge portion of the country.
Protest voting is useless. Voting 3rd party is useless. You saw the polls. You knew Johnson wasn’t going to win. And those of you who voted for him anyway, you didn’t quite believe that this would happen, did you? You figured your vote didn’t matter.
But it DID. And it mattered the wrong way.
Also, I disagree with Johnson on many issues, and wouldn’t vote for him even if he was main ticket.
So. To all of you who voted 3rd party to protest out of some sense of misguided moral purity I reiterate; Fuck you.
