I LOVE the use of the 'play within the play' in both Bill and Something Rotten!. So they're both obviously about Shakespeare, and with that, they have multiple references to him and his plays. Mostly, these come in the form of quotes. In Something Rotten! (yes everytime I say it I'll do the exclamation mark), they also use character names and other things, but these are all pretty explicit references. Even if you have never seen anything to do with Shakespeare, you will probably recognise that it's a reference and appreciate that. But the play within the play is so subtle, so much so that maybe it wasn't even an intentional Hamlet reference, and I love that so much
