warnings: angst, use of “y/n”
description: you and billie are “casual” and you decide to finally say something about it, billie is angry and scared at first, and you try to talk to her about it.

not proof read!
casual.
that’s what billie had said, from the moment we met, she told me she couldn’t do relationships and i told her that was fine.
i hadn’t meant to fall for her like i did. i tried to push it down, but i just couldn’t.
and now i was laid across her bed in nothing but lace panties while she played her guitar. but of course, this was casual in her eyes.
“y/n?”
i was snapped out of my thoughts by billie.
“hm?”
i replied still staring at the ceiling
“i said are you okay, you’ve been laying there like that for like 20 minutes, you can talk to me you know”
she replied so casually, but it felt like i couldn’t, the thing i really wanted to tell her, she probably didn’t want to hear.
“i’m fine”
stupid reply but it’s all i could muster up in the moment.
“hey, baby talk to me”
she said softly, so softly i could have cried, i loved her so much.
i sat up, pulling a hoodie over my head, one of hers actually, she had given it to me a couple weeks ago, talk about casual.
“billie, can we- i-“ i sighed “i need to talk to you”
i let out, i couldn’t stand this anymore, i wanted more from us, i dreamed of being her girlfriend and knew she didn’t want that, but i couldn’t sit here and pretend i was okay with being causal.
“yeah course you can, c’mere”
she pat her lap, putting her guitar down, god she was so perfect.
i crawled across the bed and then into her lap on the desk chair she had been on, her arms instantly snaking around my waist.
“if i say something, do you promise not to freak out”
i said weary, looking at my hands, which i was fiddling with in my lap.
“tell me anything, i’m right here”
she said back instantly, so understanding and so loving.
“i think i’ve fallen in love with you-“
i blurted out, then shocked myself once i really realised what i had just said.
“i- and i know you don’t want-“
“what?”
she interrupted me, she sounded confused more than anything.
“you love me?”
the grip she had just had on me loosened, and my heart dropped to my stomach.
“i- yeah”
i said now extremely worried, realising i could have just fucked something really good up.
“y/n you know i can’t- i- this was supposed to stay casual”
she said sounded slightly panicked.
“i know i know and- im sorry, i just couldn’t keep it to myself anymore, and i couldn’t pretend like this is casual billie, i mean- i’ve met your family, im sat in your room right now half naked”
i said back, i was now in panic mode, i was saying anything without thinking.
“that was your choice to meet my family y/n, i told you- i said you didn’t have to do any of that!”
she said back practically pushing me off her as she stood up, walking across the room hand going to slide through her hair stressed, back to me. i’d never felt this empty in my life.
“billie- look i’m sorry, i- please don’t let this change anything i can’t lose you”
i was now talking quickly, my breath hitching slightly, i’d never really seen billie raise her voice until today.
“well you’ve kind of changed things around now y/n, i mean- what did you think i was gonna say “oh i love you too” and we ride of into the sunset, that’s not how this works, i don’t- i don’t do relationships!!”
she exasperated, clearly upset and angry, now i really didn’t know what to say, god i regretted it so much, i couldn’t stand to have billie angry at me, who knew it would hurt me this much.
“i- im sorry billie. i didnt think-“
“you didn’t think what!? you didn’t think i’d get angry, didn’t think i’d be fucking confused?! well i am! and how could you expect me to react differently”
tears escaped my eyes and ran down my face, she then turned and saw me, in shambles, half from her not wanting this but half that she was angry at me and yelling, i saw her face change when she saw my tears.
“no- don’t- don’t cry y/n, i can’t see you cry”
she said stepping closer like she was going to reach out for me, but she didn’t, it’s like something pulled her back.
“i can’t help it”
i choked out, bringing my arm up to wipe away my tears, smudging mascara over my eyes. i stared up at billie, i didn’t know what i was meant to say now, i just honestly felt pathetic for ever thinking she would love me back.
“look y/n, you know i have a soft spot for you in my heart. and god, i want you too, but it can’t work, it would never work”
she said softly now, like she didn’t want to upset me any further.
i didn’t expect her to say that, to admit she did want me, and maybe i hadn’t been crazy about this connection between us.
“then why- why can’t we atleast try?”
i said with a slight sob, i wanted this so bad, i wanted her so bad, i was willing to lift mountains to make this work.
“it’s complicated baby, you know that, i’ve got a lot going on, my career, my family and mostly my mental state, i would just fuck everything up, and i don’t want to hurt you pretty girl”
i choked out a sob at that, i had been here for the last 3 months, id been to some of her tour, id met her family, and most of all, id seen her at her fucking worst, i’d been there for her, and i knew these were excuses because she was scared.
“your hurting me now”
i said with a small cry, and her eyebrows furrowed.
“i- i don’t- i can’t- im scared”
she admitted under her breath, so very quiet, like she was even scared to admit that to me. and when she said it i took a small step closer, close enough that one of us could reach out to the other.
“you don’t need to be scared, not around me billie, you know that. i’ve been here, i’ve seen your life, i’ve seen you, the real you. and i want this, so so badly, and i don’t care if it’s difficult at times, i don’t care if you try to push away, i’ll help you, because i love you”
i said looking up her her, she was now looking down, playing with her rings in her hands.
“billie- look at me”
i said softly and she looked up from her hands.
“please let me be yours. you don’t need to be scared. i want you, not anyone else.
she looked at me, really looked at me. took a second to breathe, then opened her mouth to speak slowly.
“you’ll get sick off me”
she said with a small sniff.
“no. never”
i said back with confidence.
“you’ll see that i’m not perfect.”
she said as small tears fell down her face.
“billie. i don’t care, your perfect in my eyes.”
she stared at me for a couple seconds.
“you really love me?”
“yes, so much”
i said quickly.
she smiled with a little sniff as she rubbed her nose.
“yeah well- maybe i love you too”
she mumbled looking into my eyes, my heart filled. everything i wanted was here, right infront of me, i grabbed her hands and pulled her into a hug. she was slightly reluctant at first, then tightened her arms around me.
“i want this y/n, god i’ve wanted it since the day i met you. but- you can’t just leave me when you get bored.”
she said into my shoulder, i smiled into hers and whispered into her ear.
“i wouldn’t dream of it billie.”
she tightened her grip on me and took a deep breath.
“god my moms gonna be happy”
she mumbled, i could hear the smile on her face and i giggled.
“and you?”
i questioned, just making sure she wasn’t just doing this for me.
“of course im happy baby, i really wanted you, i was just scared, and im sorry i couldn’t do this sooner.”
i smiled and pulled back to look at her.
“don’t apologise, just- promise me your gonna love me as much as i love you”
i said looking up into her glossy eyes.
“promise”
she said before pulling me into a gentle, loving kiss, a kiss that said much more than any words could, and in that moment, i knew billie was mine.

previous part three
you learned how to disappear.
how to keep your head down, shoulders curled inwards, footsteps quiet enough that people forget you're even there. it was a survival thing. at home, silence meant safety. at school, it meant invisibility.
so whe someone snickered behind you in the hallway, something sharp and cruel about your clothes, your voice, the way you walked, you didn't even fully register it. just another sound to fold into the background noise of lockers and voices.
you kept walking.
you didn't notice the way billie stopped dead.
didn't see the way her jaw tightened, the lazy slouch faling out of her posture like a switch had been flipped. didn't hear the locker rattle when her fist hit it, hard enough to make a dent.
"say it again."
her voice was low. dangerous. not loud, worse than loud.
the guy laughed, nervous and stupid. "what? i was just—"
"i said," billie repeated, stepping closer, "say it again."
you were halway down the hall, oblivious. you didn't know there'd been a fight until later, when the principal's coice cracked over the intercom, strained an irritated, calling billie o'connell and another student to the office immdiately.
people whispered. they always did when billie was involved.
you never connected it to yourself.
you never knew it was for you.
the day you were late to school, the world felt off from the moment you woke up.
your dad's voice filled the house before you opened your eyes, slurred, loud, swinging between anger and something worse. you laid still in your bed, staring at the crack in the ceiling, listening to the way he paced the hallway, muttering uner his breath.
you didn't move until he yelled your name.
"get up," he snapped. "you're gonna make me late."
you dressed quickly, hands shaking as you pulled on your favourite pink long sleeve, the one that was a little big but felt safer that way. in the kitchen, he knocked over a chair, cursed at the counter, spilled something sticky on the floor.
you stayed quiet. you always did.
by the time he finally grabbed his keys and told you to get in the car, your chest felt tight, like you hadn't taken a full breath all morning. the drive was silent except for the radio and the occasional angry huff from the driver's seat.
you arrived at school twenty minutes late.
the bell had rung already. the halls were mostly empty, echoing in that strange, hollow way they did between classes. you hugged you backpack tighter around your body and hurried down the hallway, head down, shoes squeaking softly against the floor.
then you heard shouting.
not playful. not joking.
your head lifted before you could stop yourself.
at the far end of the hall, billie had some guy pinned against the wall. the same guy that had commented on your shoes yesterday. one of billie's arms was pressed flat against his chest, holding him there with barely any effort. her other hand was clenched at her side, knuckles white, jaw tight.
"stay away from her," billie snapped. "you hear me?"
her voice cut through like glass.
the guy nodded frantically, hands up in surrender. "yeah—yeah, okay, i swear,"
"good."
billie stepped back, shoving him once for good measure. the guy practically ran in the opposite direction.
and then billie turned.
and then she saw you.
your stomach dropped so fast it felt like missing a step on the stairs.
you froze.
your first instinct was to leave, to turn around, disappear, pretend you hadn't seen anything. that was safer. that was what you knew.
you took one step back.
"y/n."
her voice was different now. softer. like she'd smoothed the sharp edges away just fo you.
you hesitated, then slowly walked over, heart pounding in your ears. up close, you could see it, the way her shoulders were still tense, the faint red mark on her knuckles.
"why're you late?" she asked. "you're never late."
you swallowed, eyes dropping to the floor. "my dad... he was yelling. took a while to drive me."
her brows furrowed. "what was he mad about?"
you shrugged, the motion small. "i don't know. he was drunk."
something in her face broke.
it wasn't dramatic. it was quiet. subtle. but you saw it, the way her jaw unclenched, the anger shifting into something heavier, something sadder.
"hey," she said gently, stepping closer. not crowding you. just enough to be there. "you wanna stay at my place tonight?"
your head snapped up. "what?"
"i don't want you going home to that," she said, like it was obvious. like it was the only option.
"i— won't your parents mind?" you asked quickly, panic flaring. "i don't wanna intrude or anything."
"no," she said immediately. too fast. "they won't care. i promise." then, quieter, almost like she hadn't meant to say it out loud, "plus... i want you there."
your chest tightened.
you hesitated. thought about your dad. the way his moods swung. the way home never really felt like home.
then you nodded.
"okay."
billie's shoulders relaxed, just a little.
when she dropped you off at english, she leaned against the doorframe, hands in her pockets like she always did. "oh— and i can drive you to and from school if you ever think you'll be late, 'cause i know you hate it."
"oh. okay. thanks."
she tilted her head. "is that okay with you?"
you smiled. small. real. "yeah."
—
after school you and billie arrived at her house.
billie's room smelled like laundry detergent and something sweet.
not perfume. not overpowering. just.. clean. familiar. like warmth clinging to fabric.
you stood awkwardly near the door while she rummaged through her dresser, tossing folded clothes onto the bed without much thought.
"here," she said, handing a pair of sweatpants. "you can keep 'em."
your fingers curled into the fabric automatically. the hoodie was soft. oversized. smelled like her.
"i don't wanna—" you started.
sh cut you off without even looking at you. "you're gonna. i have, like, fifty of these."
you nodded, heart doing something stupid in your chest.
the bathroom light buzzed softly while you changed, the mirror unfamiliar. you caught the sight of yourself in her clothes, too big, sleeves swallowing your hands, and something about it made your throat tighten. you looked different. smaller. safer.
when you came back out, billie glanced up from her phone and pused.
"oh," she said quietly.
you shifted, suddenly self-conscious. "what?"
she shook her head quickly. "nothing. just-yeah. movie?"
you nodded again, climbing onto the edge of her bed like it might bite you. you sat stiff, back straight, hands folded in your lap, feet barely touching the mattress.
billie noticed.
of course she did.
she flopped onto the bed beside you, casual, one arm behind her head. the movie played on her laptop, some dumb comedy you barely paid attention to, but the silence between you felt loud.
she glanced over.
"y/n," she said slowly, "don't tell me you're gonna sit in my bed and not cuddle me."
your face burned instantly. heat rushed up to your neck, into your cheeks, ears. "I— what?"
she smirked, but it was soft. teasing without being cruel. "relax. i don't bite. much."
you hesitated. your body knew how to curl inward, how to make space, how to be small. touch wasn't something you were used to wanting.
but billie shifted closer, arm brushing yours, warm and solid.
so you moved.
just a little at first. close enough that your shoulder touched her chest. close enough to feel her breathing. she didn't comment. didn't rush you. just slid an arm around you like it was the most natural thing in the world.
you melted.
your head found it's place against her chest, ear pressed over her heartbeat. it was steady. real. she smelled like detergent and warmth and something sweet you couldn't name.
at some point, you fell asleep.
you didn't remember deciding to. one second you were watching the screen blur, the next you were drifting, wrapped in her arms.
and for the first time in a long time, you felt safe.
—
after that sleepover, it didn't stop there.
one sleepover turned into another. then another.
sometimes it was planned, billie showing up at your locker with a grin, keys dangling from her fingers saying, "you're coming over." sometimes it just... happened. you'd text her late, heart racing, "can i stay tonight?" and she'd reply instantly, "already on my way, i'll pick you up."
her room became familiar. you had an extra toothbrush in the cup by her sink. the hoodie she let you keep the first time stayed at your place. you wore it to school even when she wasn't around.
people noticed.
whispers followed you down the halll. the looks lingered longer now. not mocking, but curious. careful.
protective billie wasn't subtle.
someone laughed at you in math once, something muttered under their breath about how quiet you were, how weird you dressed.
billie heard.
her chair screeched back so fast the whole class went silent. "you got something to say?"
the teacher yelled her name. billie didn't care.
by lunch, the rumor was that she slammed a guy into a table outside the cafeteria. again.
you found out later, from someone else. always from someone else.
billie never told you.
she just walked to class. sat closer. her hand hovered near your lower back like a warning sign.
one night at her house, you noticed the bruise.
it bloomed dark along her knuckles, ugly and fresh. you froze mid-sentence.
"billie," you whispered. "your hand."
"it doesn't look like nothing."
she sighed, rolling her eyes, but she let you take her hand. your fingers were gentle, barely touching, like she might break.
"who was it this time?" you asked quietly.
she didn't answer right away.
"someone who forgot how to mind their business," she said finally.
your chest tightened. "was it because of me?"
her jaw clenched. "no."
you looked up at her. really looked.
she exhaled. "okay. maybe. but that's not the point."
"what is the point?" you asked.
"that nobody gets to hurt you," she said, voice low. "not here. not anywhere."
you swallowed. "you can't fight everyone."
she smiled then, crooked and soft. "watch me."
—
nights at billie's were your favourite.
sometimes you talked about nothing, sometimes about everything. billie sprawled across the bed, tracing patterns into your sleeve while you told her stories in that quiet voice you hated but she leaned in to hear.
sometimes you didn't talk at all.
you just existed together.
you learned the way billie slept, on her back, one arm always searching until it found you. you learned that she hummed quietly when she was half-asleep, that she held on like she was afraid you'd disappear.
at school, she was loud. reckless. untouchable.
with you, she was careful.
you caught her watching you more than once. in class. in the hall. her gaze lingered like she was memorising you.
one afternoon, you flinched when someone bumped into you.
billie saw.
she grabbed you writed gently, pulling you closer. "you okay?"
you nodded, embarrassed.
her thumb brushed over your knuckles. grounding. steady.
"hey," she murmured. "you're safe."
you believed her.
soon, the fights got worse.
a shove here. a punch there. a three day suspension.
you sat alone in the library, heart in your throat, when you heard students whispering about her.
"billie eilish got a three day suspension from that fight this morning."
your hands shook.
you dad was at work that afternoon. she showed up at your house, knuckles taped, lip split.
you cried.
not loudly. just quiet tears that slipped down your cheeks while you cleaned the cut with trembling fingers.
she watched you like she didn't know what to do with your softness.
"i'm sorry," she said finally.
"for what?"
"for scaring you."
you shook your head. "i don't care about that."
she frowned. "then what?"
"i care about you getting hurt," you whispered.
something shifted in her eyes.
she pulled you into her chest, arms tight. protective. possessive.
"i won't let anything happen to you," she said. "ever."
you clutched her hoodie, breathing her in.
for the first time, you didn't feel like disappearing.
you felt held.
and even though billie never said it, you knew.
you knew she was fighting the whole world for you.
and she always would.

Dates Billie will take you on…(Part 2)
Synopsis: Just dates !! Part two to my other one !!
── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ──── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
Record Store… One of Billie’s favorite calmer dates is digging through old vinyls with you. She’ll hold up the weirdest covers and make you guess what genre it is, or secretly buy you random albums you said reminded you of your childhood. The best part? Getting home, putting it on, and slow dancing in the living room.
Thrift Shopping… Billie loves taking you to thrift stores for weird clothes and vintage junk. She’ll make you try on the most outrageous outfits just to see you laugh, then surprise you by actually pulling off something incredibly ugly. You leave with a random candle holder, a jersey she insisted on getting and a bunch of random photos.
Night Drives… Late at night when the world feels still, Billie takes you for drives through empty streets. No makeup, no cameras, just you two and the sound of tires on the road. She watches you from the corner of her eye as you talk about your day. She says you look even more beautiful under the street lights.
Breakfast in Bed… Sometimes Billie wakes up early just to surprise you. She tries to cook quietly, but you always hear her clattering around and cursing at the toaster. She brings you a slightly burnt but heartfelt breakfast, kisses your forehead, and snuggles in next to you. "Worth it," she whispers, every time.
Museums… On rare nights when she can sneak out unnoticed, Billie takes you to quiet museums or galleries. She’ll whisper jokes about the paintings, then turn serious and tell you how one of them reminds her of you. Her hand is warm in yours, and everything around you feels like a dream, but her eyes always come back to you.
Hotel Pools… On nights where you’re touring with her and need adventure, Billie will convince you to sneak into a hotel pool. You swim in your clothes, laugh too loud, and try not to get caught. Billie swears those secret, wet haired kisses feel better than anything else in the world.
No words needed…
Synopsis: A very casual confession !!
A/N: Another one !! :P Just ask if you want anything specific !!
── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ──── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
Billie and you were sitting on the couch, talking about nothing, when her hand brushed against yours. Neither of you say anything, but she looked over at you and caught your eye, and for a second, it felt like everything slowed down. Billie gave you a small, awkward smile, like she wasn’t sure if it was okay to hold her hand, you lightly squeeze her hand to let her know it’s okay. It wasn’t dramatic at all, just real.
Later, you both shared a slice of cold pizza, laughing at some stupid joke on the TV. It wasn’t a big moment or some movie scene, it was just you both having fun, quiet and simple fun. And that was enough.
Aisle Chat…
Synopsis: Just a little blurb about a trip to the grocery store with Bils !!
A/N: I like doing these, so if you have any requests let me know !! ♡
── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ──── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
You’re halfway through the produce aisle when Billie holds up a bunch of green onions and ask, “Didn’t you say we were out of these?” You glance over from where you’re poking at avocados. “I said they were dying. There's a difference.” She raises an eyebrow. “They looked fully dead to me.” You shrug. “They had a few days left. Maybe.”
Billie tosses the onions into the cart anyway, along with something you’re pretty sure neither of you meant to buy. “You’re just making up excuses not to grocery shop again this week,” she says accusingly, bumping your hip with the cart as she passes by you. You smirk. “Obviously.” You keep moving, and so does she, both of you picking things up, putting them back, arguing over snacks like it’s the most natural thing in the world. It's not a big moment. Just her, you, and a list you’re not even really following.
Literally the Same…
Synopsis: Just a little drabble about stealing Bil’s hoodie !!
── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ─── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
You’re half-asleep when the door opens. Keys hit the counter. A quiet sigh. Then her voice, dry and familiar, “Is that my hoodie again?” You don’t even open your eyes. “Yup.” Billie lets the silence sit for a second. You can hear her pulling off her shoes, tossing her bag down with a soft thud. “It’s literally the same as yours,” she says.
“Yours is better,” you reply, voice muffled into the sleeve. “Don’t ask me why. It just is.” She walks over, drops onto the couch beside you, then leans down. Smells like her usual mix of coffee and whatever overpriced hotel soap they gave her. “Didn’t even wait up for me,” she teases, nudging your shoulder. “I was waiting,” you say, eyes still closed. “You were just taking forever.” Billie laughs quietly, then shifts until she’s halfway lying on top of you, one arm slung over your waist like it’s muscle memory. For a minute, neither of you says anything. “Okay… maybe it is better.” “Told you.”

description: you become insecure lately, but billie helps you see what she sees in you, FLUFF
pairings: reader x billie

you tried to ignore it, the constant need to hate the way you looked.
and today it had been really eating you up, and billie noticed.
“baby?” billie said softly, so so softly, like she knew you were in a deep thought right now and she didn’t want to interrupt you.
“hm?” you said, keeping your eyes fixed on your fingers, which were twiddling in your lap.
“your glowing today, your just so beautiful” she paused “my pretty pretty girl” and finally. your head turned, and a small smile crept onto your face even though you found it hard to believe she wasn’t just saying that out of pity.
“thank you bills, but-“
“stop” billie interrupts, standing up and coming to pull you off the couch. she grabbed your hands and lead you towards your large floor mirror.
“there are no buts, look at yourself baby” she said admiring you as she snuck a peck to your cheek, which made you instantly blush and become all embarrassed and flustered in front of the mirror.
subconsciously your hands came up to snake around your waist to hide away from the mirror, and billie. you couldn’t help but wish you could see what she sees, because the way she looked at you was so so loving and affectionate.
before you could say anything, you felt billies hands take yours, and gently pull your arms down, away from your stomach.
“don’t hide yourself my love” billie said smiling at you through the mirror.
all you wanted to do was run away and curl up under a blanket to get away from yourself. but billie was here, and she cared, and that was enough to make you stay. for her. you hated what you saw in the mirror, but billie. she loved you and your body, and her opinion was more important than anyone’s.
“relax baby” she paused, and wrapped her hands around your waist, “really look at yourself” she stopped, noticing your disgusted face, “hey, i’m here, your okay, and your so so loved. okay?” she said with a warm comforting tone which instantly just made everything better, your let yourself breath and your body finally relaxed under billies touch.
you nodded at billies words softly and let yourself start to admire your body. your curves, dips, and bumps, everything that billie found so so beautiful.
“so perfect” you heard come from billies mouth, and you turned your head to look up to billie, like you were looking for some sort of comfort, a break from looking at yourself.
“no, don’t look at me, look at you, look at your gorgeous self my love” billie said calm. you turned your head back to the mirror, and you just stared, not knowing how to feel.
“tell me what you love about yourself” billie let out, looking to you once more through the mirror.
“what, i-“ you said reluctant and confused, but billie didn’t say anything, she just waited patiently for you to answer.
“i like my hair, and, um- i like my eyes” you looked back at billie, but once again she didn’t say anything, she wanted you to say more, she knew there was more for you to say, “and i guess i like my thighs, and uh-“ i stared at myself again and finally started finding more things i liked, and began listing them to billie, the smile on her face growing every time you said something new that you liked.
“now tell yourself your beautiful” billie said confidently with a smile on her face.
you looked to billie “i- i’m beautiful”
“don’t tell me, i already know. tell yourself baby” billie said, not demanding, but wanting you so badly to tell yourself this.
you looked back to the mirror and stared into your own eyes “your beautiful” you paused “i’m beautiful”
“yeah you are” you heard next to you with a big smile on billies face as her arms snuck around your waist and pulled you in close, bringing her lips to yours with a soft kiss.
“feel better my love?” billie said looking down at you, resting her forehead against yours.
you smiled, finally feeling true happiness today.
“yeah, thank you bills” you said small, looking into her blue ocean eyes.
“don’t thank me, it’s my job to make sure your happy” she said placing another loving kiss on your lips. you lent into the kiss and held onto billie like a lifeline.
maybe you hadn’t fully gotten over your insecurities, but you felt so good right now, and so overwhelmed with love. and that’s all that mattered to you in this moment.
