🔭🔬MANTICORE: a style study

ya’ll may know i’ve recently gotten into Billy Basso’s masterpiece Animal Well from all the arts and reblogging that has ✨plagued this page✨. i definitely spoiled myself enough to acquire the inability to play AW blind, but this weekend i managed to get the 1st ending anyway and had a grand time :]!! the brainrot has escalated a considerable amount now lmao. and even before playing the game myself, that prior schoolweek was full of animal well brainrot (as the reblogging shows). so i’d like to present some brainrot doodles‼️

these were a set of sketches planned for big things that i ended up fulfilling!! all the coloring was experimental, relaxing, and interesting, and i’ve taken away some cool tidbits and tips from drawing the silly space creature a ton. i’m real proud of this, so i wanted to share :]!

taking a character and ‘stylizing them’ into different characters has become one of my favorite things. probably why i love playing with slugcat proportions and chonny jash in general so much. there’s so many ways you can go—so many personalities you can present with just a look. sharp = scary and smart, boxy = loyal and strong, round = kind and approachable (imo). but then when you reflect that onto little design details, it makes everything look more interesting. idk, i love this page :]. especially the celestial kitty <33. they were quite the challenge to color but it turned out awesome 🌌💙💜!!
