GBP £10,000+ paid for Billy Meredith, August 2025 British auction, hammer was £8,000 Sterling plus 30% fees in auction rake! Not a bad take when they do almost nothing for it! WEIRD: this Singleton & Cole's cigarette card was sold only 2 months earlier by a neighbouring SE-England auction which did not show it or name it. Now, for the biggest soccer tobacco card since the St.Pete Bloomer that's odd! Rumour has it that the auctioneers conspired but what do I know? They can make a lot of money doing just this: 1st auction undersells and pays the vendor. The 2nd auction resells after max publicity and pays the 1st auction a pay off. The loser is the original vendor.
Well, it's a big price, around $13,500 USD.
I am sure the auctioneers are rubbing shoulders in their whisky bar.
Great lots of cigarette tobacco cards in auction Saturday 24 August, live auction Nottingham GB, and internet Easy Live and Sale-Room, 1000's of sports cards
