Matthew Henry, future CEO, plays a dominant role during office hours. He’s known for his strict hand and unforgiving ruling, but it seems he's beginning to show his soft side. Perhaps too soft, some may suggest. In the early hours of Sunday 31st January, Henry was spotted leaving the Othello club in Greenwich Village following one of the venue's biggest events... And he wasn't alone.
Despite arriving at the event with his cousin, Matthew was seen slipping away from the party accompanied by a drunken Billy Watson, a student doctor, who has no previously known ties to Henry. The pair left early, well before the club closed, hand-in-hand as they took off on foot to the Harrison Hotel, where insiders tell us the two spent the night together in the assistant director’s room. What else is there to know about Watson, then? Not a lot, it seems. Before starting his medical program he was untraceable for years, which is suspicious in itself. “Billy doesn't get into bed with just anyone," one reliable source tells us, however, before revealing that, "they were friends before that night." We've also received reports of Billy claiming to want to keep their arrangement "casual" but the details are otherwise unknown.
Watson entered the event with friends, one of which we identified as Spencer Quinn, an upcoming author of vulgar homoerotic autobiography Deeper than Bones who also happens to have been caught in a heated confrontation with Henry not only at Othello on the night of the event but also weeks before, in a Lower Manhattan deli. A source later told The Real Blacklist that the argument was more likely to stem from Boston-bred Spencer Quinn's past romantic relationship with Henry's cousin, Archibald Maycroft. Our source tells us: "It looks like Matthew is jealous. A closet case fuelled by internalised homophobia that Spencer can't shake off."
In Henry's absence, Quinn was spotted sneaking off with Maycroft in a locked club toilet before returning to his partner, Arthur Gustin, who he moved to the City with in 2018. His current relationship with the Henry-Maycroft cousins is unknown, but insiders tell us that the chances of Matthew also having relations with Quinn "is not unlikely." Perhaps Matthew stealing Billy away for the night was merely an act of revenge against Quinn.
We’re left with a bunch of questions. What exactly happened in that hotel suite? Does Arthur know about his partner’s disloyalty? Is there more to Matthew Henry than meets the eye? And what would his father think of Henry going against his traditional values?
