#binary code egg?

If the code is a failed egg experiment of sorts, I wonder if it was always on a time limit. No one has ever done tasks for the code. No one’s ever given it a safe home. 

Maybe it initially was lashing out in anger against the Federation and jealousy of the Eggs but now its realized that it NEEDS the same care and tasks to be done as the eggs do and everyone is scared or hates it and they don’t want to die.
