After witnessing the kind Shen Qingqiu in another dimension, Luo Binghe (Bing-ge) becomes haunted by the possibilities of what could have been. He grows increasingly frantic, tormented by visions of a life he never had. During a mission, he learns of a soulmate who doesnāt exist in his universeāsomeone fated to die a painful and lonely death. Consumed by anger and despair, he rails against the injustice of his fate.
At the end of his life, the System appears and offers him a deal: a chance to know his soulmate. But the price is steepāhe must abandon everything he owns, every ounce of power heās ever wielded. Luo Binghe accepts. The world resets, and he finds himself back as a disciple on Qing Jing Peak. Just as he begins to doubt the Systemās promise, it reappears, informing him that he will be transported to his soulmateās world as soon as a suitable host body becomes available. Then, as Shen Qingqiu beats him, Luo Binghe is finally transmigrated.
He awakens in a dimly lit room, in the body of a man who looks strikingly like Shen Qingqiu. The System appears one last time to wish him luck before vanishing forever. Luo Binghe is left confused, powerless, and alone in an unfamiliar world. The person who was supposed to be his soulmate is nowhere to be found, and he realizes heās taken over the body of another version of Shen Qingqiuāperhaps the kind one he once admired.
This story is ultimately about healing. We follow Luo Binghe as he navigates his new life, desperately trying to contact the System, only to fail each time. As he explores this world and adjusts to his new identity, he learns that he is now Shen Yuan, the third son of a wealthy family. Shen Yuan was a young master in name only, wasting his life in frivolity. His family is kindāalmost too kindāand Luo Binghe finds himself drawn to them in ways he never expected.
As he delves into the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way, he theorizes that the author, Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky, might hold clues to the Systemās whereabouts. But the author is already dead. Fortunately, Luo Binghe discovers traces of the Systemās power in airplaneās apartment, much like Shen Yuanās room beforehand. Reluctantly, the System provides him with some answers: Shen Yuan-his soulmate- as he was taking his last breath. Any kind of meeting could not been done as Shen Yuan was already dead by then. All the system did was offer him a chance to accomplish his wish, to know his soulmate.
Luo Binghe nearly loses himself to despair. The injustice of it all is unbearable. But after a breakdown, he resolves to live for Shen Yuanāto honor the life Shen Yuan never got to live due to his poor health. Over time, Luo Binghe grows closer to Shen Yuanās family, forming genuine bonds with them. He realizes he has a family again, one that truly cares for him, even if they arenāt his by blood. He vows to live the best life he can, not just for himself, but for Shen Yuan.
Shen Yuanās sister, Shen Li, reminds Luo Binghe of his time on Qing Jing Peak, when Ning Yingying felt like familyāa connection he never truly replicated with his first wife. Their lighthearted conversations bring him a sense of peace he hasnāt felt in years.
Everyone who knew Shen Yuan notices the change in him, but they assume heās going through a difficult phase. Their concern manifests in constant invitations, messages, and care, which Luo Binghe reluctantly accepts. He seizes every opportunity to learn more about Shen Yuanāhis likes, dislikes, friendships, school years, love life, hobbies, and even his trolling sense of humor. He adopts Shen Yuanās clothing style and mannerisms, striving to represent him with the utmost dedication. Though heās no stranger to playing roles, Luo Binghe has never poured so much passion into a performance. He may not be Shen Yuan, and they may never have met, but he loves him all the same.
Even in death, Shen Yuan continues to shape Luo Bingheās life, guiding him toward happiness and fulfillment. Luo Binghe is eternally grateful for this chance and holds onto the hope that they might meet in another lifeāas lovers, next time.
And so, time passes. Luo Binghe lives for one. Lives for two. Lives for the chance that their souls might one day meet. And, in spite of everything, he finds a way to live a happy life.
