Monsanto suing Maui, Hawaii...
...has triggered my frustrations a bit. They took a beautiful technology and they plastered their bullshit money hunting focus on it. The reaction inspired willful ignorance based out of fear. I find it hard to respect both sides, because GMOs are amazing. it's corporate lawyers suing farmers for millions that's fucked up.
And this isn't new, either. Think of how many use PCs. Think of how many use TVs. Whether or not global economy is a good idea is an entirely separate topic, but I think we can all agree that copyright and trademark goes too far when corporations want the legal right to your fucking genes as well.
It's all symptomatic of a far bigger issue: willful ignorance. Everyone succumbs to reptile brain sometimes. I'm understanding of that. What I don't feel comfortable with are all these pseudoscientific assholes making money off of curious minds. I'm sick of these god damned religions brainwashing children with fairy tales that are corrupted Aesop fables. What I don't support is the destruction of good design in any form for "more money."
In theory, with more energy conservation, post-scarcity is possible as well as shortened work hours during the days. 7 corporations bow down only before a global bank. The idea of an Illuminati is bullshit, but the idea itself is accurate in regards to how banks control even world governments.
As for a solution, I just don't fucking know. I'm reminded of a sampling of Spontaneous Evolution in Machine Head's interlude Imaginal Cells. Humanism is the route forward, but when people still persist in racism, jihads, etc. how will it survive abuse of technology? I legitimately fear for the fucking future of humanity as a species and all the environmental damage being done by corporations.
In many ways, the only way of fighting this stuff now is being fucknig rational enough to push for change when the bipartisan gridlock ends. It's like Jello Biafra says in Stars and Stripes of Corruption: "We don't destroy society in a day / Until we change ourselves first / From the inside out." A bit anarchist, but the idea applies for reform as well.
