pied crows are honestly more likely to be ravens than crows, but since they behave like carrion crows nobody really cares. they’re spread throughout africa and can learn to mimic sounds like human speech, use tools, and take down their own prey instead of having to scavenge from others. they will mob any raptor except the black kite.

you are an old german owl! 

old german owls are sweet little birds with big hearts. they warm up fast to people and bond closely with other birds. they are devoted parents and partners and get their name from their small face and beak--which is big enough that they can still eat and preen and feed their young normally, making them an ethical and adorable bird!

fruit doves, true to the name, like to eat fruit. any fruit they can physically swallow they eat whole, as their bills are not adapted for tearing open the outer skin of their snacks to get at the juicy insides within. they eat insects and the occasional nut, but most of their diet is made up of fruit. both parents help to raise a single chick in a sturdy nest.

these graceful but hardy doves can survive almost anywhere they can find seeds, as they only take insects (typically flying ones they can snatch out of the air) every once in awhile. they build flimsy loose nests with only one or two eggs in bushes or even on the ground. unfortunately, they’ve been spread so far from their native range that they often push out other endemic species in places like hawaii.

you are a snowflake quail!

a color morph of the typical domesticated bobwhite, snowflake quails are rare and seemingly delicate birds that are surprisingly hardy. they eat most things they can get their mouths on, and are often kept in dovecotes to eat discarded seed and bugs attracted to the other birds. they are sexually dimorphic, and the female has lighter head markings than the male (the one in the image, for example, is female).

you are a lucerne!

lucernes are mellow and easygoing for the most part. they aren’t bothered by most people and get along well with other pigeons. their colors and morphs are considered to be different breeds, like my personal favorite the gold collar lucernes. they will defend their nests with a passion but otherwise are a gentle friend to all.

you are a white tern! 

white terns are beautiful little seabirds who feed of the fish they catch in their bills on the wing. they also make the extremely unorthodox decision to...not build nests at all and instead lay an egg directly on a tree branch they’ve chosen is a suitable place to raise their young. they have very strong feet and babies quickly learn to cling on tight.

you are an elf owl! 

elf owls are the world’s smallest owl. like other small raptors, they eat more insects than meat. when you’re that size, a large grasshopper may as well be a three-course meal. they nest in the holes left behind in cacti by woodpeckers, especially flowering cacti that will attract moths (otherwise known as elf owl snacks) right to their doorstep.
